I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University. I specialize in the treatment of trauma in children, adolescents, and adults. I am trained in EMDR, TFCBT, and TBRI Practitioner counseling modalities. I have over 15 years of experience working in the juvenile justice system, education system, in-patient treatment, crisis response, and with victims of crime. I believe that recovery is possible through healthy expression, deep relational connection, and the processing of traumatic events.
I provide a safe therapeutic environment built on trust and empowerment that enables clients to share their narrative and experiences. Each session will be an exploration into the thoughts and emotions that drive behaviors. Additionally, I will help clients connect their trauma and toxic stress of the past to present day functioning. Client's can expect to gain insight to their cognitions, in addition to the tools necessary to overcome present and future challenges.
I am trauma informed therapist, meaning that I believe our histories and experiences affect our ability to cope with stress, challenges, and triggers in the present. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy modalities. I am also a Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner.
My biggest strength is building connection, trust, and a safe environment for clients. I believe that recovery from trauma is not only possible, but likely when we are given a safe space to share our story. I honor the personal stories of my clients and recognize the uniqueness and beauty of every journey. I want to help clients see the beauty in their story and learn to positively cope with the troubling chapters.
My ideal clients are teens and adults who are ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, past trauma, or relationship challenges, and are seeking practical tools to improve their coping skills and emotional well-being. These clients are open to self-reflection and motivated to build healthier patterns, increase self-awareness, and strengthen their sense of confidence and resilience. Through trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, and supportive individual therapy, I work with clients who want to heal from difficult experiences, develop mindfulness, improve relationships, and create a more balanced, fulfilling life.

My first appointment with Michael Garcia, and I was genuinely impressed by his openness and the comfortable environment he created from the start. He listened without judgment, asked thoughtful questions, and helped me look at my work‑related relationship challenges in a clearer, more constructive way. What stood out most was his ability to be both professional and genuinely human—he made it easy to talk to him. I’m grateful for the experience and look forward to continuing the process with
