LPC, 5 years of experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University. I specialize in the treatment of trauma in children, adolescents, and adults. I am trained in EMDR, TFCBT, and TBRI Practitioner counseling modalities. I have over 15 years of experience working in the juvenile justice system, education system, in-patient treatment, crisis response, and with victims of crime. I believe that recovery is possible through healthy expression, deep relational connection, and the processing of traumatic events.
I provide a safe therapeutic environment built on trust and empowerment that enables clients to share their narrative and experiences. Each session will be an exploration into the thoughts and emotions that drive behaviors. Additionally, I will help clients connect their trauma and toxic stress of the past to present day functioning. Client's can expect to gain insight to their cognitions, in addition to the tools necessary to overcome present and future challenges.
I am trauma informed therapist, meaning that I believe our histories and experiences affect our ability to cope with stress, challenges, and triggers in the present. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy modalities. I am also a Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner.
My biggest strength is building connection, trust, and a safe environment for clients. I believe that recovery from trauma is not only possible, but likely when we are given a safe space to share our story. I honor the personal stories of my clients and recognize the uniqueness and beauty of every journey. I want to help clients see the beauty in their story and learn to positively cope with the troubling chapters.

Michael continues to help me in my journey to identify what’s holding me back, and progress in areas that bring me closer to living a fulfilling life.

I feel like you can truly tell right when you meet a therapist if they potentially will be a good fit for you. I mean this in the way that if you find yourself opening up when you didn't think you would, the very first day, it's probably good indication that it has potential. For me I did not expect to open up and straight away talk about the main issue I was there for but I did and although it was only our first session he truly made me feel like there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I can genuinely say that after our meeting I was happy! I felt like a burden off of my shoulders and to me that saying something because anytime I even try to talk about what is going on I tend to get upset or mad but I felt proud and hopeful for the future of my healing
