Since then I have had a wide array of additional volunteer and work experiences with adults and adolescents undergoing various life challenges at work, school, home and in the larger community. Much of my work centers on a simple but often overlooked idea: the patterns shaping your life today — how you argue, withdraw, overwork, or self-protect — were formed by earlier relational experience, often outside conscious awareness. I also draw on literature; the way a well-drawn character reveals themselves slowly, often to their own surprise, mirrors how self-understanding actually unfolds in therapy.
Rather than staying purely in the past, we bring that understanding into the present — noticing how old patterns show up in a hard conversation, a recurring conflict, or a feeling you can't quite name — and building the capacity to respond with more awareness and less reactivity. The goal isn't insight for its own sake, but change you can actually feel in daily life.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), and EMDR-trained therapist. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Counseling.

I use evidence-based approaches, including EMDR and trauma-informed practices, but therapy with me never feels clinical or cold. It feels like conversation, exploration, and sometimes gentle challenge.

"The best way out is always through." - Robert Frost
I'm an LCSW with 20 years of experience helping people through hard things. I've spent my career in community mental health, primarily working with children impacted by trauma and the caregivers who love them.
Through telehealth, I am open to working with both teens and adults. I have a deep understanding of trauma, including foster care and adoption. I also understand the challenges that come from raising children who are neurodiverse and/or display trauma-based behaviors. I love working with adults who have parenting struggles or need support around managing challenging behaviors. I also love working with teens and adults struggling with anxiety and/or depression.
I received my Masters in Social Service at Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research with a specialization in child and family well-being in 2006. I'm a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and am licensed in both Pennsylvania and Florida.
I believe that no matter what someone has been through, change is possible. Life can be overwhelming, relationships can become painful, and it's easy to feel stuck in patterns that seem impossible to break. I love helping individuals and couples better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and find hope again.
My counseling style is warm, honest, and collaborative. I want my clients to feel safe enough to be themselves without fear of judgment, while also feeling supported and challenged to make meaningful changes. Together, we'll explore the experiences and patterns that may be keeping you stuck, gain a better understanding of what's beneath the surface, and develop practical skills to help you move forward with greater confidence and peace.
As a Christian therapist, I enjoy working with clients who want to include their faith as part of the counseling process. I enjoy blending biblical wisdom with evidence-based therapy in a way that feels natural and meaningful.
I believe real change happens through both compassion and accountability. I'll meet you with empathy, but I won't leave you where you are. I'll help you recognize the patterns that are holding you back, encourage you to see things from new perspectives, and equip you with practical tools to create lasting change in your life and relationships.
I have a variety of experience working with anxiety, depression, parents and children, as well as young adults. I utilize the most appropriate method of treatment to you during the session, with empathy and understanding. I look at the “whole person” and not just the presenting issue that brought you to consider making a positive change and help challenge you to meet your goals!

I go by "Zippy." As a Behavioral Health Consultant, I am dedicated to providing culturally grounded and trauma-informed care to individuals and families facing complex life challenges. Born and raised in Kenya, I bring a unique perspective shaped by experiences in both Kenya and the United States, allowing me to bridge cultural gaps in mental health services. I believe mental health care must honor the cultural identities and lived experiences of those we serve, as these elements are pivotal in shaping one’s mental well-being.
With over a decade of experience across child and adult mental health, community-based social work, and integrated behavioral health within a Federally Qualified Health Center, I empower clients facing trauma, intimate partner violence, migration stress, and socioeconomic barriers, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit.
As a bilingual English/Swahili clinician and certified medical interpreter, I've worked closely with refugee and immigrant families from Sub-Saharan Africa, recognizing the impact of language and cultural familiarity in therapy. My experiences with pregnant women, survivors of sexual assault, and individuals under acute psychosocial stress reinforce my commitment to relationally focused, culturally attuned care.
I actively engage in community leadership, having served on Millersville University’s School of Social Work advisory board and volunteering with Grape Leaf Empowerment Center. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy to enhance my ability to address complex relational dynamics affecting mental health. My goal is to become a systemic therapist integrating cultural context and evidence-based practices, promoting a model of care that is compassionate, culturally responsive, and honors the diverse narratives that shape healing as a shared journey.
My name is Cindy Kropp. I am a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in providing compassionate, trauma-informed, mental health care for individuals seeking a more balanced and emotionally healthy way of living.
I am trained to provide individual therapy for older teens, young adults and seniors trying to navigate through their own stressors and discomfort related to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, life transitions and alcohol misuse and abuse.
Utilizing a strength-based and relational approach, and with a trauma-informed lens, a solid and client centered foundation is built between the client and I as the therapeutic process unfolds. From there, I work collaboratively with individuals to set goals while also exploring her/his own thoughts and feelings as related to the challenges and struggles in their own lives.
This work is achieved through the integration of cognitive behavioral therapy strategies, narrative therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques. As we work through this therapeutic process together, clients are able to identify how their own hopes and dreams of living a more peaceful, happy and abundant life can become a reality.
I believe all individuals have worth and value and need to have an opportunity to make life what they have always imagined!
It is super important to meet with a professional that sees and hears you fully, and tailors a working approach that encompasses your needs. Therapy should not be fitting your concerns into one therapy approach, or forcing you to make changes you are not ready to make. I listen closely, and we build an approach together with your empowerment and investment in the process. My approach is warm, flexible, and motivational in nature. I want to learn about you, how you see the world, and how you interact with others. I also focus on areas like attachment, safety, and grounding in therapy. I do not subscribe to the theory that a few quick sessions will have you feeling empowered and amazing. Therapy is a process of intention and focused work, but one that I have observed is worth the self-discovery and healing that can occur. Healing best occurs with encouragement and empowerment in a safe relationship.

I approach each person with honesty, compassion, an open mind, and a willingness to think outside the box. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, I believe in helping people uncover the answers that align with their own journey, empowering them to recognize their strengths and make meaningful connections that foster growth and healing. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and have worked as a therapist treating adults in individual and group therapy for 4 years. I specialize in anxiety, grief, and trauma. My approach includes therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Prolonged Exposure, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narriative Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. I'm always looking to expand my approach to best support my clients. My experience has been with community mental heath, two CIRC programs, and providing short term grief therapy at the Medical Examiner's office. Each of these have provided me with greater understanding of the system of care of Philadelphia and the reality of navigating it especially when resources can be nonexistent for housing or other basic needs. My specialities in grief and trauma are two sides of the same coin - intense loss can be traumatic. This philosophy is central to how I approach supporting clients in their journey. Both need to be address to help the healing really start.
