Hi, I'm Sara. Here's what I want you to know: It's not normal. The answer to the question you've been asking yourself is, 'It's not normal.' Name-calling is not normal. Silencing yourself to keep the peace is not normal. That on-edge feeling is not normal. Feeling shame at the idea of others finding out how you're treated behind closed doors is not normal. You've lost yourself somewhere along the way, and you didn't even notice it happening. When did 'you' start shrinking? I help high-achieving, high-functioning individuals caught in controlling and abusive relationships see through the gaslighting, reconnect with their intuition, and shift from survival to self-trust.

I specialize in working with children, families, and adults in all walks of life. It is my desire to help children, families, and adults identify and celebrate their strengths, while building and reinforcing healthy familial and interpersonal relationships. My goal as your Clinician is to help you overcome past trauma and/or current life stressors, build your strengths and coping skills, and advocate for you in any way I can. I am honored by the clients who have entrusted me to walk with them through their mental health journey, and look forward to working with you in the future.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
