I feel privileged to companion my clients through life challenges and humbled by their strengths. I provide a safe space for all to reflect on life's struggles and encourage the development of new perspectives. Life throws us curveballs, some more difficult to handle than others. Talking through those challenges with a neutral, supportive, and knowledgeable therapist can be helpful. I look forward working with you in the near future.
I work with high-functioning adults who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, emotional pain, or self-sabotage—even after years of traditional talk therapy. I'm Melissa, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a practicing School Counselor based in Michigan. I help teachers struggling with stress, anxiety and feelings of burnout work towards achieving work-life balance.
We will start by identifying sources of tension in your professional and personal life that are causing you to feel overwhelmed and burnt out. Then, we will work on establishing boundaries and implementing coping skills that will be most effective for you. Through our work together, you'll have the skills to advocate for the changes you need and the strength to overcome the obstacles that you face in the future.
Admitting you might need a little help getting a handle on your life or the fallout from your past is difficult. Each person interprets the world based on life experiences that are uniquely their own. These interpretations can blind us from opportunities, alternatives, or pitfalls that may be right in front of us. My goal is to assist clients in building a personal road map to navigate life and guide decision-making to gain an acceptable level of control in their life. I have extensive experience with law enforcement, military and ems.
I am a licensed clinical therapist and Reiki Master Teacher in Michigan with 27 years of professional work experience. I use a unique holistic/spiritual approach, incorporating the mind, body, and soul as they all go hand in hand.
Since I was a freshman in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a therapist and help people. I never questioned it and pursued this.
After about 21 years, I really started to have an interest in holistic methods, spirituality, and exploring different healing modalities. I had some physical issues due to a bad car accident I was in when I was younger, combined with the stress I was experiencing. This really motivated me to learn alternative healing methods. I also discovered that I am an Empath.
So I pursued learning more about this and myself by really expanding on my spiritual journey, and wanted to share my knowledge with others.

Hi! My name is Amanda (she/her) and I'm a neurodivergent Licensed Master of Social Worker (LMSW) based in Michigan. I received my master's degree from Western Michigan University with a 'Trauma Across the Lifespan' specialization in 2018. I also received a Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW) from Ferris State University in 2009. I enjoy helping those struggling with the effects of trauma through their darkest moments toward a brighter future.
I am a counselor who embodies empathy, compassion, and motivation in guiding my clients toward healing and self-discovery. My training in TEAM CBT, developed by Dr. David Burns, emphasizes the transformative power of confronting negative thoughts to drive positive emotional change. This method, rooted in the principle that 'The Truth Shall Set You Free,' focuses on identifying and challenging cognitive distortions. Additionally, as a Christian Counselor, I seamlessly integrate Christian principles with traditional talk therapy and TEAM CBT, ensuring that these approaches complement rather than conflict. This holistic blend allows for a therapy experience where clients address their mental health challenges and find deeper meaning and alignment with their spiritual beliefs.
I believe in therapy as someone who has done my own clinical work since I was in my mid-twenties. I grew up in NJ and moved to Michigan to attend college and have been here since that time. I spent the first part of my career working in the foster care system with children and adolescents which I really enjoyed. That gave me a great foundation for working with the adult issues of attachment, child developmental stages that were not accomplished and struggles with current relationships.
I do a lot of work with people who were raised by narcissistic parents, people who are dealing with cancer diagnosis and those with chronic or life threatening illnesses. I work with people who are addressing childhood trauma, sexual abuse or emotional abuse. I have worked with adoptees who are seeking understanding of themselves and their past. I do a lot of work with individuals transitioning from a divorce situation and all the adjustments that this involves especially in coparenting situations. I find people and their life experiences fascinating and always worth unpacking and investigating to gain a better understanding of the self as a whole being; there is always something new to learn.
Life threw me a curveball when I underwent open-heart surgery—but I hit it out of the park with resilience, self-care, and a passion for helping others do the same. With 20 years of experience as a social worker, including supporting children and families in a school setting, I understand the ups and downs of life and the power of healthy coping strategies. In my past role, I worked closely with families, helping them manage, cope, and recover from trauma. Through this experience, I developed a deep understanding of the challenges families face and guided them with empathy and practical support. Whether you're navigating the emotional rollercoaster of life and work or recovering from a difficult chapter, I’m here to help you regain your balance, one step at a time. Let’s work together to make your comeback even stronger.
