I’m a proud, multi-hyphenated Black woman and one of my deepest joy's is walking alongside people as they grow their self-love, self-worth, and capacity to live authentically. I work with clients to unabashedly honor themselves, their stories, and their desires for the future. I truly saw the need for more mental health professionals in my community when I lost my father in 2006. Since that day, I began my journey of understanding the mind and how it works. We go through many major life transitions such as breakups, divorce, having children, new professions, loss of income, moving, pandemic stress and more. Most do not realize just how traumatic these seemingly “normal” events are to us at times.
I am here to help you if you feel overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, angry or confused concerning anything that has been thrown at you in your life. If you feel that what you are dealing with is too much to handle on your own, please reach out to me. We cannot stop this cycle of numbing or ignoring mental health issues in our world if we do not start within.
As a mental health advocate, I am here for you. I have seen the impact of a lack of relatable and accessible mental health programs and providers. I am here to be the bridge and get you the solutions, support, and guidance you need.
As a therapist, I believe everyone is the expert of their own lives, and sometimes we need assistance sorting through all the clutter in our minds. I believe a major way to gain clarity is through overcoming and navigating life’s breakdowns and challenges. There is something liberating about embracing our imperfect selves and being brave enough to face reality. Along with being a therapist, I am also a wife and a mother of two, so I understand how difficult it can be to navigate life wearing many hats.
Welcome! I’m Tamika of Life in Bloom. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Wedding Officiant. I’m here to help you navigate life's stressful relationships. In our talks, I refer to those stressors as “thorns.” Why thorns, you ask? Great question! Because even the most beautiful roses have some uncomfortable pieces. That doesn’t make them any less beautiful, valuable, or appreciated. I have been commissioned to help couples, families, friends, and any other relationship dynamic find their communication style, boundaries, and build trust. It is truly my joy and my personal life’s work.
Therapy isn’t what we have traditionally seen on television or in film. It is so much more than sitting on a big, comfy couch, sharing your innermost thoughts/feelings. Therapy is beautiful and transformative - and can take work. Don’t worry! I am here to help you every step of the way. Life and all the hats you wear from day to day can be challenging. I encourage and empower you to unlock the power you have inside of you. I promise you it’s there! I also help you reflect on how far you have come in order to celebrate your victories with you - big or small. Kudos to you for seeking help! You are in a safe space. I look forward to working with you and watching you bloom.

I didn't always know I wanted to be a therapist. Growing up in a household where mental health issues were present allowed me to see firsthand it's effect on individuals. After undergraduate school, I landed my first job in a psychiatric hospital. That's when things clicked for me, and I knew that I wanted to help people become their best selves. I had a natural curiosity to understand the world, how people think, and what drives human behavior. I also believe in the power of connectedness. All these things came together and pushed me to pursue my graduate degree in counseling. My experiences early on taught me that no one is perfect, we all struggle, and we all deserve grace. I am here to tell you that your story doesn't have to end where it is now. I aim to show that we are all resilient and have the ability to overcome challenges.

I entered this field in mid-life as a result of dissatisfaction in my previous field and a strong sense of my need to follow what I had always loved - psychology. After being trained in a wholistic psychology program at the University of West GA and getting additional trainings of depth psychotherapy with American Academy of Psychotherapists, for the last 12 years, I have been practicing Experiential Psychotherapy. My philosophy is rooted in Humanistic psychology, and an emphasis in the relationship between the therapist and client, in the growth of client, rather than pathology, and in focusing on the whole of the client, rather than in one aspect.
I actively engage in my own self-work to remain aware of my personal dynamics and any barriers that might affect my ability to be fully present with clients. I strive to approach each person with curiosity rather than judgment, and I trust deeply in every individual’s innate capacity for healing and growth if given the right support, insight, and relationship.
I am a licensed therapist with extensive experience in addiction treatment, acute mental health, and behavioral health care. My background includes years of direct clinical work supporting individuals through some of life’s most difficult challenges, with a focus on recovery, resilience, and long-term wellness.
