I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia with a Master’s degree from the University of West Georgia and seven years of experience in the mental health field. I am passionate about supporting children and adolescents ages 6-14, helping them navigate challenges such as anger, depression, OCD, and eating disorders. My goal is to provide a safe and compassionate space where young clients can develop the skills they need to manage their emotions and thrive.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we’ll begin with brief introductions to help your child feel comfortable. Then, we’ll explore the specific challenges they’re facing in a way that’s appropriate for their age and developmental level. This will allow me to create a personalized plan with strategies tailored to their unique needs, which we’ll work through in future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

After over seven years in the mental health field, I’ve learned that my greatest strength is showing up as my authentic self—genuine, compassionate, and human. Building real connections with my clients allows me to support them in a way that feels safe, understanding, and meaningful.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with young children ages 6-9 and preteens ages 10-14. My clients are often motivated to grow but may struggle to express their emotions or communicate their needs effectively. My goal is to help them develop the skills and tools necessary to navigate their challenges with confidence. Through a supportive and tailored approach, I guide them in building emotional awareness, coping strategies, and problem-solving abilities to foster long-term success.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I creatively use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my sessions with child and adolescent clients by incorporating engaging and developmentally appropriate techniques. Through storytelling, games, and art activities, I help younger clients explore their thoughts and emotions in a way that feels natural and accessible. I use “detective thinking” to challenge negative thoughts, role-playing to build social and coping skills, and behavior charts to reinforce positive actions. Mindfulness exercises and relaxation techniques help my clients manage stress, while real-life practice assignments encourage them to apply CBT strategies outside of sessions. My approach makes therapy interactive, relatable, and effective in fostering emotional growth and resilience.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I help clients develop mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I use visual tools, role-playing, and hands-on exercises to teach coping strategies in a way that resonates with their developmental level. Journaling, grounding techniques, and movement-based interventions make DBT skills more practical and applicable to their daily lives. My approach ensures that clients not only understand DBT concepts but also feel empowered to use them in real-life situations.

Play Therapy

I use Person-Centered Therapy in my sessions by creating a safe, accepting, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and valued. I emphasize empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine connection to help clients explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. By actively listening and reflecting, I empower them to develop self-awareness, confidence, and personal growth. My goal is to foster a supportive environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves and discovering their own strengths and solutions.
