Everyone deserves to live a meaningful life—one filled with purpose, fulfilling relationships, personal growth, and a sense of balance. At times, however, we all need support and guidance to move forward.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over seven years of experience helping individuals across the lifespan navigate emotional and psychological challenges. In my practice, I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, mood instability, anger, relationship difficulties, divorce, family conflict, and work-related stress. My goal is to help clients reduce distress, strengthen insight, and build the skills needed to create lasting and positive change.
My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and interactive. I place a strong emphasis on treating each person with respect, sensitivity, dignity, and compassion. I draw from a variety of evidence-based and insight-oriented approaches, including mindfulness-based practices, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), schema therapy, psychodynamic, humanistic, and rational-emotive interventions. Treatment is always tailored to your unique needs, goals, and life circumstances.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your path toward growth and well-being.
My focus is on guiding people through depression, anxiety, trauma, and major life changes. If you’re feeling stuck, therapy can offer clarity, support, and a path forward. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back and find meaningful ways to move ahead. Expect sessions to be calm, accommodating, and understanding. I want you to feel comfortable talking about anything. I offer a safe space without judgment where you can be yourself.
My values as a therapist include openness, non-judgment, empathy, cultural humility, strength based, and unconditional positive regard. My approach is integrative and centers the needs of my clients; I utilize active interventions involving cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused-therapy, motivational interviewing, grief and loss, to name a few. I aspire to cultivate a trusting, safe and empowering space for the people I serve. I place a lot of emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship with patients that allows for authentic self-expression.
I have always loved people and have been interested in forming deep relationships throughout my life. As time went on, this manifested into an interest in a career as a therapist. I use a variety of approaches in my work, depending on the needs of my clients, including client-centered cognitive behavioral with a psychodynamic perspective and mindfulness.
I believe self-exploration is an investment in you and your future. When we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings with kindness and compassion, we gain insight and understanding of our authentic selves. We experience inner peace, find deeper meaning, and become more nurturing to ourselves and others without judgment. I work with adults from ages 18 to 100 on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress, and life transitions. I am also trained as a transformational life coach.
Hi, I’m Dr. Cathy Evangelatos, I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology.
I also hold a Master’s degree in Theology, enabling me to offer specialized Christian-integrated therapy for clients who desire to integrate their faith into their personal growth and healing.
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, which provides significantly more rigorous training and expertise than a standard two-year Master’s-level therapist. Psychologists typically complete 5–7+ years of doctoral-level education beyond a bachelor’s degree, with extensive training in evidence-based psychological interventions, assessment, diagnosis, and advanced treatment approaches. In contrast, most Master’s-level therapists (such as MFTs or LCSWs) complete a two-year graduate program focused primarily on relational and family systems work. This advanced doctoral training allows me to deliver deeper, more nuanced, and highly effective care — empowering you to achieve meaningful, lasting change with greater insight, precision, and support than a standard Master’s-level therapist can typically provide.

Hello I'm Sonja — a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in California. My path to this work wasn't a straight line and I think that makes me a better clinician. I started with a career in corrections in Arkansas, where I learned early on how to connect with people in difficult circumstances without judgment. That experience shaped how I show up in the therapy room to this day. I transitioned into mental health as a psychiatric technician, working directly with all age groups across inpatient and community settings; providing direct care, facilitating group therapy, and delivering individual therapy during my internship and later as a registered clinician with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. By the time I became fully licensed, I had accumulated nearly a decade of real-world clinical experience across some of the most demanding settings in behavioral health..
