LMFT, 27 years of experience
Hi, my name is Laurie. I have been a Marriage and Family Therapist for 27 years. I have been able to help a variety of people who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, anger management, trauma, family conflict, military-related issues, parenting and couples who want to learn better communication skills. I have worked with people from a variety of ethnicities and ages, from 5 to 75. I am compassionate, caring, and empathic. My background includes; working with troubled teens, military members who struggle with deployment, etc., a drug and alcohol treatment center, couples, and those who struggle with trauma from childhood.
During our 1st session I will ask you what you want to accomplish in therapy and we will develop some goals. For example, if you want to feel less anxious then are goal will be to help you learn new skills that will decrease your anxiety. I want to get to know you so I may ask you questions about your marital status, if you have kids, where you grew up, and where you work. I will tell you that you can ask me questions at any time. Many people are anxious during the first session. If this is so, please tell me. I want to provide a safe place where you can share your thoughts and feelings.
I utilize Cognitive-Behavorial Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy.
I provide an emotionally safe place built on trust. I am warm, genuine, non-judgmental and down to earth.
