Hello, I’m Angie. I love to compassionately walk alongside individuals who desire to move towards greater healing and wholeness while learning to access more of their strengths and inner resources. All of us need support, and none of us were meant to carry our burdens by ourselves. My primary strength lies in working with adolescent, college-aged, young adult, and middle-aged women who seek a faith-based, holistic (body, mind, and spirit) approach to cope with anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, life transitions, relational issues and conflict, codependency, spiritual issues, addiction, identity, singleness, grief, and more. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology and Education: Counseling and Student Personnel and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I have over 10 years of therapy experience and nearly 25 years of combined experience in education, mental health, coaching (life and health), and ministry. Serving hundreds of individuals in settings including K-12 schools, group practices, a hospital, a foster care transitional living placement, and an addictions-focused outpatient behavioral health program, has allowed me to witness countless individuals find fuller, more hope-filled lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

While I am always trying to learn how to better serve clients with therapeutic tools and education, I find that the best care is ultimately in an authentic relationship based on you and your needs. This may include the use of coping tools, education, laughter, tears, prayer, or gentle and direct dialogue, but it will always include a framework of relationship, safety, and trust, seeking to work with you where you are at, following your pace. I start by getting to know you--your personality, goals, background, and desires, and combine that with professional tools and experience, along with Biblical principles, to create an initial framework of care, which is adjusted as your expressed goals and needs change. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and basic training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR (though I offer tools from these modalities as adjunct vs. primary modalities). Additionally, I am certificated in Elijah House faith-based inner healing training as well as in life and health coaching, through Health Coaching International.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I take a holistic and strengths-based approach, integrating psychological, spiritual, and mental/physical health components into therapy. I love to partner with you to honor and process your concerns, applying therapeutic and coaching tools, and, for those who are interested, prayer, a Scriptural framework, and faith-based inner healing methods, in order to instill hope and a greater sense of freedom and transformation so that you can step into more of your God-given identity, explore and pursue the goals and dreams you were created to live out, and (re)connect to yourself, others, and God. From what my clients have shared with me, my greatest strengths are the compassion and sense of calm they feel from me, my sincere belief in them as a person with strengths, resilience, and the ability to grow and change, as well as the insight and wisdom that I offer. As a fellow companion on the ongoing journey of healing, health, and growth, two of the greatest things that my own therapy has given me that I seek to offer to you include the permission to make incremental and meaningful shifts, rather than trying to “fix” and change everything all at once, as well as the practice of taking hold of the hope, love, and faith offered me that I could not always extend to myself.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

While I enjoy working with a variety of individuals, I especially love working with adolescent, college-aged, and young adult females who seek a faith-based approach to therapy. I find it easy to connect, offering an environment of warmth, attunement, validation, and genuine care, unearth challenging underlying issues and concerns, while offering insight and tools and helping you identify and build on your strengths and sense of self.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I offer faith-based counseling for individuals who seek therapy that aligns with their personal Christian beliefs and values. This includes individuals who are struggling with or are sorting through aspects of their faith or who have wounding directly connected with their faith. I integrate psychological, spiritual, and physical health domains to address the whole person. Walking through my own struggles with wounding, trauma, and physical health better equips me from a personal perspective. I am committed to continually learning and applying wisdom and understanding gained from a Biblical foundation and faith-based inner healing methods, in conjunction with psychological methods and tools, and health and life coaching tools. Faith-Based Inner healing: This refers to faith-based lay counseling among Christians which highlights the use of forgiveness, repentance, and tools for finding connection with God, identification and breaking of lies and replacing them with truth, and processing painful memories to bring emotional and spiritual healing.)

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT assists individuals in identifying unhelpful thoughts, which then negatively affect one’s thinking, feelings, behaviors, and relationships with others. I help individuals identify more helpful and truthful thinking that leads to empowerment and shift.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT incorporates education and practical tools in the areas of distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and emotional regulation.
