I'm a British therapist, licensed in California. I graduated from Touro University in 2020 as a marital and family therapist. I have a background in addiction treatment, and also have particular experience with self-esteem, LGBTQ+ issues, anxiety and depression. I work with individuals and families.

I'm a British therapist, licensed in California.

My aim is always to help my clients gain greater understanding of themselves and their relationships, in order to lead a happier, more fulfilling life.

First session

The first session is designed to be relaxed and easy. I want to get to know you a little better, and for you to get to know me a little better. We'll start to figure out what your priorities are in therapy and the best way to start tackling them.

Strengths

Calmness. Acceptance. Celebration of diversity and uniqueness. Curiosity. Asking the right questions at the right time.

Ideal clients

My dream client is someone willing to work on their emotional and mental health, and be open to new ways of thinking.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This therapy has a cognitive component and a behavioral component. The cognitive component aims to help you recognize patterns in your thinking that are unhelpful, or produce a lot of unpleasant emotions - and create alternative ways of thinking that are more helpful. The behavioral component helps you to plan and execute strategies for dealing with difficult situations on your life, such as those that produce a lot of fear or dread.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

This is a form of radical positive thinking. Instead of looking directly at the problems in your life, It is a way of discovering what is already working, and seeking exceptions to problems in order to identify strategies for happier living by doing more of what works. I incorporate this technique to help clients see that there are always some glimmers of hope that can be built upon.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Practicing mindfulness means keeping focused in the here and now - tuning in to what our bodies and minds are telling us, and practicing accepting it without judgment. With this therapy, thinking becomes clearer and difficult realities become more easy to accept. I teach a variety of techniques to practice mindfulness and integrate it into daily life.

Stuart challenges me and asks me questions that make me deeply reflect on subjects we talk about. He makes me feel safe and expresses genuine concern for me. I look forward to my meetings with Stuart and recommend him to anybody looking for a therapist.

I look forward to my sessions with Stuart more than I can say. He is cheerful & fiercely intelligent; solution-oriented & helps me feel focused on what I want to accomplish both in therapy & in life. I struggle to remember my core goals & values on a day to day basis & these sessions help me hone in on them & remember them anew. Stuart has a delightful presence & is always very professional. I feel like I'm getting somewhere without skipping steps (which I am want to do). Highly recommend!
