I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker in California with over 20 years of experience working as a counselor and I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, anger management, domestic violence, and abuse/addiction to substances including alcohol. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, client-centered, and strength-based techniques. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. When you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. Looking forward to working with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

People have consistently asserted that they experience me as kind, truthful, and humble. Our first session will focus on your immediate needs in context of goal setting and achievement.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Strength-based, person-led sessions with a focus on solutions but not dismissive of one's experience and healing process.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

This is one of my favorite approaches as we can often be so focused on our problems that we lose sight of our strengths and/or supports. I have seen so many folks turn things around with this mostly simple approach combined active and strategic listening and reflection.

Attachment-based

When I was in college, Attachment Styles were all the rage in both practice and research. I really didn't get it until I began working with folks that were already up to their 50's and sharing attachment rupture(s) impact on their functioning, mood, decisions, and even physical health. Very powerful work can and does get done here.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Well, CBT doesn't really excite people so to speak but can be very effective in challenging negative beliefs, deconstructing as well reconstructing perspectives toward more wanted outcome driven- behaviors. I really like this approach but not a catch all for healing by any means.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling!! One of my favorites and most challenging all at once. This work can be truly difficult and even intense, to facilitate increasingly honest and trust-building communication despite the hurts, heartbreaks, let downs, and stresses that come with these type of sessions which, hopefully lead to forgiveness, healing, and reconnection.

Faith based therapy

Something I never push or preach about yet, a core value of my own and the source of my strength, courage, compassion, and stability in this work of 22 years and a life of 53.
