Hi there! I’m Emily, a therapist who knows just how loud and overwhelming our thoughts can get—because I’ve been there too. I specialize in helping adults untangle the messy knot of overthinking, anxiety, depression, and body image struggles so they can finally catch their breath and start living with more clarity and confidence. Using approaches like ACT, IFS, and RO-DBT, I create a space where we can explore what’s weighing you down and work together to help you move forward. Therapy with me is about more than just talking—it's about building the life you’ve been quietly hoping for.
The first session is really about getting to know you—your story, your struggles, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been bothering you and start piecing together the puzzle of your life. Think of it like planting the seeds for change; it’s not about fixing everything in one go but laying the groundwork. I’ll also explain how I work and answer any questions so you can decide if I’m the right fit for you. By the end, you’ll hopefully leave with a sense of relief (and maybe even hope) that you’re not doing this alone anymore.
I’d say my greatest strength is meeting you where you are—whether that’s feeling completely overwhelmed, cynical, or cautiously optimistic about this whole therapy thing. I bring a mix of professional expertise and lived experience to the table, which means I get it in a way textbooks can’t teach. I’m skilled at making sense of the chaos, offering practical tools that feel doable rather than overwhelming. Plus, I’m not afraid to use humor to break the tension when it’s helpful—sometimes, a good laugh is just as healing as a deep insight.
My ideal clients are intelligent, introspective adults who often feel like their own minds are their worst critics. Maybe you’re juggling a demanding career while battling perfectionism and self-doubt, or perhaps you’re wrestling with a complicated relationship with food or your body. You’ve probably mastered the art of looking “fine” on the outside while feeling anything but fine on the inside. You’re skeptical about therapy (because, let’s face it, it can sound a little fluffy), but deep down, you’re ready to feel lighter and more grounded. If this resonates, we’ll probably work well together.
I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) because it helps clients build a healthier relationship with their thoughts and emotions. Through ACT, I guide clients in practicing mindfulness, clarifying values, and taking meaningful action. With years of training and personal experience in overcoming anxiety, I bring both expertise and empathy to help clients navigate anxiety, depression, and overthinking.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is central to my practice because it offers a compassionate way to heal the "parts" of ourselves that carry pain or shame. I help clients unburden these parts, fostering self-awareness and inner harmony. My IFS training equips me to guide clients through complex emotions and trauma, helping them reconnect with their strengths and reclaim their sense of self.
Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) is a key part of my practice, designed to support individuals who struggle with overcontrol, perfectionism, and emotional rigidity. I help clients build openness, flexibility, and deeper social connections by teaching skills to embrace vulnerability and regulate emotions. My RO-DBT training enables me to guide clients in breaking free from rigid patterns, fostering resilience and a more fulfilling, connected life.
