I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals with complex and high acuity mental health needs. My work is grounded in trauma informed and trauma responsive care, with a strong commitment to creating inclusive, affirming spaces for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent clients, and individuals in rural communities. I work across the lifespan, including children (7+), adults, older adults, families, and couples. My approach is collaborative and empowering, centered on the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives and require my clinical expertise. I often describe my role as “working myself out of a job” to help clients build the insight, skills, and confidence needed to advocate for themselves and navigate systems independently. As a trauma specialist, I tailor evidence based interventions to each client’s identities, needs, strengths, and goals. My primary approaches include Somatic Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)-(EMDRIA certification pending), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I also integrate Internal Family Systems informed interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, exposure based strategies, mindfulness, and other approaches as clinically appropriate. I adapt treatment for neurodivergent clients and clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities because therapy should adjust to the person and not require the person to adjust to therapy. I am continually shaped by the courage, insight, and lived experiences clients bring into our work. Every advanced training, specialty, certification, and state license reflect lessons learned from clients. I carry their trust, stories, and influence into every session with gratitude and responsibility. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with 18 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and older adults. I’ve worked in a wide range of mental health settings—including inpatient and outpatient programs, schools, juvenile detention, family-based services, universities, prisons, and private practice—which has given me a deep understanding of how mental health needs evolve across the lifespan. After seeing how limited access to care was in rural Pennsylvania, I became an early advocate for telemental health. Today, I offer both virtual and in-person counseling, giving clients the flexibility to choose what feels most comfortable and accessible for them. Starting my own practice during the pandemic allowed me to create a healthier work-life balance while dedicating my full attention to providing compassionate, high-quality care. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you feel understood, and support you in building the tools you need to move forward with confidence and peace.

Hello, and welcome — I’m so glad you’ve landed on my profile! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Behavior Specialist in Pennsylvania. I earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and have been working in the mental health field since 2014. Most of my career has been in Intensive Behavioral Health Services (formerly BHRS), where I served as a therapeutic staff support (TSS), mobile therapist, and behavioral specialist. I worked primarily with children ages 2–16, much of that time in elementary school settings. My work focused on supporting children on the autism spectrum, as well as those with ADHD and mood disorders, while collaborating closely with parents and teachers. I also have experience as an in‑house school therapist, again working with elementary‑aged students and their parents. Although my background is rooted in child and family work, I have also supported adults through IBHS and outpatient settings. Throughout my career, I’ve spent meaningful time counseling families and partnering with educators, giving me a well‑rounded understanding of the challenges parents and teachers face.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience working with children and adults. I have primarily worked within school systems as an on-site therapist; as well as in my own private practice. I work with people who have a variety of concerns, including: trauma, attachment, grief and loss, divorce, school problems, anxiety and depression, life-phase transitions, and family conflicts. I value an eclectic and prescriptive therapeutic model, and am skilled at shifting gears when the need arises. My specialty is working with children 2 to 12. As a registered play therapist/supervisor, I understand the language that children routinely use to communicate: play. Through play therapy, children can explore new roles, act out challenging situations, and re-work beliefs about themselves and others. In parent-child play therapy (with younger children), we work together to build secure and safe connections, practice new ways of communicating, and foster JOY in your interactions. In addition to play therapy, I have trained extensively in EMDR (for children and adults), Jungian sandtray, the Oaklander Model of Gestalt Play therapy, Mindfulness, and Theraplay. Every one of these modalities is meant to foster relationships built on safety, warmth, security, and trust. My work with adult clients can be described as "going deep." I especially enjoy working with adult women going through life transitions (career, family, spiritual). In addition, I am interested in working with other therapists who experience clinical burnout. In my life outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, crocheting, reading, yoga, walking, petting my cats, and spending time in nature.

I go by "Zippy." As a Behavioral Health Consultant, I am dedicated to providing culturally grounded and trauma-informed care to individuals and families facing complex life challenges. Born and raised in Kenya, I bring a unique perspective shaped by experiences in both Kenya and the United States, allowing me to bridge cultural gaps in mental health services. I believe mental health care must honor the cultural identities and lived experiences of those we serve, as these elements are pivotal in shaping one’s mental well-being. With over a decade of experience across child and adult mental health, community-based social work, and integrated behavioral health within a Federally Qualified Health Center, I empower clients facing trauma, intimate partner violence, migration stress, and socioeconomic barriers, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit. As a bilingual English/Swahili clinician and certified medical interpreter, I've worked closely with refugee and immigrant families from Sub-Saharan Africa, recognizing the impact of language and cultural familiarity in therapy. My experiences with pregnant women, survivors of sexual assault, and individuals under acute psychosocial stress reinforce my commitment to relationally focused, culturally attuned care. I actively engage in community leadership, having served on Millersville University’s School of Social Work advisory board and volunteering with Grape Leaf Empowerment Center. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy to enhance my ability to address complex relational dynamics affecting mental health. My goal is to become a systemic therapist integrating cultural context and evidence-based practices, promoting a model of care that is compassionate, culturally responsive, and honors the diverse narratives that shape healing as a shared journey.

I am a therapist dedicated to helping individuals and families create meaningful, lasting change—especially during some of the most challenging and complex moments in their lives. My work is rooted in the belief that behavior makes sense when we understand the experiences behind it, and that real progress comes from addressing both the “why” and the “how” of change. I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and families who are navigating trauma, behavioral concerns, and system involvement. Many of the clients I serve have experienced disruptions in attachment, high-stress environments, or significant life events that continue to impact their relationships, emotional well-being, and decision-making. My approach is structured, active, and grounded in evidence-based practices, including attachment-based therapy, trauma-informed care, EMDR, and DBT. I focus on helping clients build insight into their patterns while also developing practical skills they can use in everyday life. I believe therapy should not only be a place to process experiences, but also a space to build tools, accountability, and confidence. I work to create a therapeutic environment that is consistent, supportive, and honest. I balance compassion with clear expectations, helping clients feel understood while also challenging them to grow. Whether I am working with an individual or an entire family system, my goal is to strengthen relationships, improve emotional regulation, and support long-term stability. At Velocity Counseling, the focus is on forward movement—helping clients move beyond survival mode and toward a more stable, connected, and purposeful life.
