My therapeutic philosophy is that individuals need to be a part of their own solutions. I work to empower clients to achieve the goals so they feel the success of their own hard work. My experience in social work is deliberately broad to address a wide range of concerns. I am passionate about my work..our work. My background includes trauma therapy, critical incident debriefing, couple counseling, co-parenting , anger management, adolescent. Parenting therapy, and advocacy and case management.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I will listen. It's been my experience that when someone decides to engage in therapy, they want to talk and unburden. It is my goal to engage with you and establish an atmosphere where you feel safe to share your concerns. It is important to connect with you so you feel completely understood and heard.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My authenticity and my passion for what I do. I give 100% to every client.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work with both adults and children. Adults that I have worked with have had a significant history of trauma, grief and life transitions. Many of the adolescents I see are struggling with peer relationships.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is used in combination with other therapies. After initial assessment the course of therapy is explored including any specialized interventions related to trauma, grief or, other special populations. It is critical that anyone involved in the therapeutic process be empowered to be a part of their own solutions.

EMDR

This form of therapy can be used to redefine a person's traumatic experience. It includes activating emotions, thoughts, senses and physiologic responses. EMDR has a few different forms due to it's focus on bilateral stimulation. Recently there has been an increased interest in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which uses the same modality however ART focuses on the visual whereas EMDR is more cognitive based. One more thing, ART requires less talking (literally you can do use this method without having to share the actually memory) and time than EMDR. ART can be done in two sessions, whereas EMDR has 8 phases.

Grief Therapy

Grief is a part of everyone's life. Most people see it related to the loss/death of a loved one. Grief has a broader definition. It can be related to the loss of a marriage, the loss of a job/career, loss of function due to illness or injury.
