Hello, my name is Lee Amaral, LCPC, ATR. I am an Artist, Art Therapist and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. With a passion for creativity and mental health wellness, I created Loamy Creative Wellness, LLC to be a virtual therapeutic art studio that serves as a creative digital portal to make space for freedom, love, connection, curiosity & authenticity. I’ve had the privilege of working with people of all ages, using art-making to promote emotional healing and transformation. I’ve seen firsthand how art can support individuals in processing trauma, anxiety, and depression, and I’m committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for people to explore their creativity, internal world, and experiences. I assist folks through individual therapy, group art therapy, creative workshops, mindfulness, and artists/creatives support spaces. I function from a relational, ecowomanism, afrofuturism and Black Queer feminist framework where I use creative processes, curiosity, and compassion as a guide to assist folks in making the shifts, naming experience, and moving towards value aligned living. The modalities that I weave into my practice are DBT, ACT, and CPT. I also use mindfulness and body practices with the purpose of integrating the body, mind, and spirit. If you’re seeking a supportive and experienced guide on your healing journey, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Please take a look at our website to determine if we are a good fit for your needs: https://encouragedcounseling.com/ As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Ordained Minister of the Gospel… … I’ve spent over 20+ years with people whose lives have been impacted by anxiety, trauma, grief, crisis, violence, and other messed-up stuff no one likes to talk about. I became a therapist so I could work towards helping the hurting people in my community, Humboldt Park, Northwest side of Chicago. I want to be the one person who comes alongside a client and knows that I really have their back and understand them in a world where it seems no one understands each of them. Puerto Rican from the Hood of Humboldt Park… I am a strength-based, cognitive-behavioral therapist and provide my clients with helpful strategies and tools to feel better overall. After I graduated from Trinity Christian College with a bachelor’s in Psychology and Theology and a master’s in Social Worker from Loyola University, I have worked in both elementary and high schools as a school Social Worker. As an Ordained Minister at New Life Covenant, it has been a great honor and privilege to work with the hurting in the Humboldt Park Community. I love my job as a therapist. Helping people struggling with mental health issues find relief and joy once again is my greatest joy. I have been married to the greatest woman in the world for 32 years. Together, we have three beautiful adult daughters. We love them dearly. They mean the world to us. In addition, we now have two granddaughters. They have been a tremendous gift to our family. For fun, I still play softball and hang out with my family. Faith is really important to me. I work every day to grow in my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Without him, I would not be the man I am today. He has made me a better husband, father, minister, and therapist. My Mission Grow in my faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. Be the best husband I can be to the woman that deserves to be honored and respected, provide my daughters and grandchildren with Godly wisdom to help them be the best they can be, and help my clients become stable, heal, and reach their goals. Currently I am only accepting new clients who are trans. I am a trans and queer Licensed Clinical Social Worker and artist with 15 years of experience in community mental health. My approach is that all people deserve to have the opportunity to experience a safe, kind, and welcoming space to explore their mental health, and that as a therapist, it is my job to nurture that. I am driven to create therapeutic opportunities for people who want and need them within the LGBTQ2IA+ community. I am open to working with clients that find themselves in need of an understanding, compassionate, and community-oriented therapist who will help to guide them through healing work. My areas of focus are: LGBTQ2IA+ and TGNC youth and emerging adults, major life transitions, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, gender dysphoria, and sexual identity exploration. I completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) and Master of Arts in Gender Studies (MA) degrees concurrently at Loyola University Chicago. Before entering graduate school, I worked in multiple positions focused on reproductive justice, body autonomy, and community care. My life and professional experiences have led me to provide therapy with a focus on community care through an anti oppressive lense. I understand that helping one person can have a positive impact on the greater community surrounding them. I believe that treatment approaches should fit the individual's needs and thus I utilize many modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, somatics, and narrative therapy. My approaches of curiosity and kindness create a welcoming space to engage in therapy. Choosing to work with a therapist is a powerful way to help yourself and we all deserve a chance to have focused time to explore, learn, and grow through challenges.

I began training to be a psychotherapist 15 years ago after having worked in publishing for many years. Becoming a Social Worker and helping others has always been a kind of calling for me, but it took a little while for me to arrive at my goal. I hope that that part of my story helps to prove that it is never too late to change or to pursue goals. I continue to integrate the things that I have learned through formal education and through my own experiences of life so that I am best able to help others who are experiencing distress and difficulties with navigating life. We all need additional support from time-to-time, especially given the complicated, fast-changing world we live in. My goal as a psychotherapist is to be a source of support and assistance as you develop insight into the difficulties you face and as you begin to develop strategies for change. Through interactive-therapy sessions, I help you to understand and clarify life’s challenges and I support you as you begin to make the changes that are needed to make progress towards your goals. I help my clients to discover and explore a positive path in therapy that they can then continue to follow as they pursue their goals and their lives independently.

I have 20 years of experience working with adults and adolescents from all walks of life. My expertise is in substance abuse, depression, relationships, family concerns, trauma and PTSD. I know sometimes people go through difficult times. They think something’s wrong with them because they have problems. Nothing could be further from the truth. Having difficulties is part of the human experience. Many people pretend they’re okay when they’re not. They keep all their pain and suffering to themselves. They’re afraid if they tell the truth, they’ll be abandoned and rejected. Therapy can open the door for you to stop pretending you’re “fine.” You can find the freedom to be you. Therapy can help you to come out of isolation and start living again. You'll start to feel better because you're showing the real you and you're connecting with someone. Your therapist can be a “loving witness to your pain.”

Grounded. Caring. Compassionate. As both a veteran and a licensed therapist, I bring a genuine, down-to-earth approach to therapy—rooted in empathy, real-life experience, and clinical expertise. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported as you navigate life’s challenges. I work with adults facing the lasting effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, personality and mood disorders. Whether you’re feeling constantly on edge, stuck in cycles of self-doubt, or just worn down by the weight of it all—you don’t have to face it alone. Together, we’ll work toward clarity, confidence, and lasting change. Therapy with me isn’t one-size-fits-all. I believe in a clear, collaborative, and goal-oriented approach that helps you move forward—beyond simply talking about what’s hard, toward building the tools and insight you need to truly heal and grow. Many of my clients come to me when they’re ready for change but unsure where to start. My role is to help you find the path and walk it with you, step by step. I draw from evidence-based methods tailored to your needs, including: • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Therapy to challenge unhelpful patterns and reduce avoidance. • Internal Family Systems (IFS) to foster self-understanding and heal emotional wounds from within. • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to strengthen coping skills, emotional balance, and resilience. Above all, I offer a therapeutic relationship that’s honest, grounded, and judgment-free—a place where you can show up exactly as you are and feel truly seen. If you’re looking for a therapist who’s compassionate, authentic, and will gently challenge you toward meaningful growth, I’d be honored to work with you. Let’s begin this process together. Real change is possible—and it starts here.

Hi there! I’m Stacey Jones, a licensed mental health professional in Illinois, Indiana and Arizona. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Saint Xavier University in 2014 and have spent over a decade supporting individuals through life’s challenges. My clinical experience spans community mental health, private practice, and school-based settings, giving me a well-rounded perspective on the diverse needs of the clients I serve. I work with adults of all ages, helping them navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, grounded in the belief that healing happens when you feel safe, heard, and supported. I focus on your strengths and goals, tailoring each session to meet you where you are. Therapy with me is a space where you can show up as your full self, without judgment. Together, we’ll build insight, develop effective coping tools, and work toward lasting, meaningful change. My hope is that you leave each session feeling more empowered, more connected, and better equipped to thrive in your daily life.

Life Transitions
Hi, I’m Mel B! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Aurora University—and for the past 10 years, I’ve been helping young adults in their 20s quiet the anxiety spiral, build confidence, and start feeling in control of their lives. I specialize in supporting motivated, insightful young adults who are ready to: Navigate big life transitions like college, first jobs, or moving out on your own—without feeling like you’re drowning in “what ifs.” Enter (or re-enter!) the dating world with more confidence and less overthinking. Create a self-care routine that actually feels good—not like another chore on your to-do list. My approach is warm, conversational, and real. I believe therapy should feel like a mix of a safe space and a strategy session—with a few laughs along the way. I use practical tools, mindset shifts, and humor to help you feel understood and supported, while also giving you actionable steps you can actually use outside of sessions. And because therapy is also about connection, here’s a little about me: I’m a wife, a cat mom to three fur babies, and a proud Swiftie. I’m an iced coffee lover, love getting lost in young adult romance books, and am always planning my next trip. Big dreams and goal-setting? Totally my thing. If you’ve been looking for a therapist who truly gets what it’s like to be in your 20s, who will listen without judgment, and who can help you feel more confident navigating life’s transitions—I’d love to connect. Let’s work together to help you feel less anxious, more grounded, and fully ready to take on what’s next.

Hello, I’m Tim. Do you ever feel that tasks of modern life leave you with limited space and energy to focus on your emotional and mental well-being? When people are maxed out emotionally, they sometimes notice a change in their behaviors and relationships. Life demands can lead to imbalances that might manifest as discord with your significant other or family members, feeling the general sensation of stress or fatigue, or not feeling motivated to engage in mood-regenerating practices. If these experiences resonate with you, I would welcome the opportunity to collaboratively explore the underlying causes, and work toward rebuilding emotional equilibrium. Sometimes people will view therapy and self-care as too much of a time commitment during their already busy schedules; however, I take the stance that it is an essential part of any self-maintenance plan. A practice of working toward better self-understanding and self-compassion is always a return on the investment of time.

Hi, I’m Lucretia! I’m a therapist in Illinois, and I work exclusively via telehealth. I’m here to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and respected—just as you are. My practice is rooted in a firm belief that everyone is worthy of love, respect, and understanding. I value authenticity, empathy, and self-awareness, both for myself and my clients, and I consider these qualities essential for meaningful therapy. I also believe in the power of laughter to ease even the heaviest conversations. Humor can open doors to deeper insight, so I use it thoughtfully and often! In our sessions, I aim to normalize and validate your experiences, no matter where you’re coming from, without judgment. My goal is to help you tap into your unique strengths and work through whatever might be holding you back. Therapy is a powerful tool, and I’ve witnessed its transformative impact on my clients’ lives, as well as in my own. I’ve leaned on therapy through my nearly 10 years in the field and through personal challenges, including loss and the experience of caretaking for a terminal illness. If you’re navigating anxiety, depression, or trauma-related struggles, I’d love the chance to work with you. I’m passionate about supporting women ages 20+ who are finding their footing in the world, going through life transitions (divorce, career changes, becoming a parent, etc.), though I work with people of all ages and backgrounds. Many of my clients struggle with relationship problems, histories of childhood traumatic experiences, abuse, or self-worth issues. I’m here to meet you wherever you’re at. My aim is to help you create a present that feels free from the shadows of past experiences, with a future that’s built on self-acceptance, resilience, and, of course, a little bit of laughter.

The weight of the world and our own pain or fears often feel so enormously heavy to carry alone; each of us needs a place to lay down these stressors and talk through the challenges we carry that feels caring, safe, and non-judgmental. As a therapist, it is my aim to have therapy serve as one of these soft landing places as you navigate the difficulties you are enduring. As you seek healing and clarity, I will always offer a warm and empathetic environment for you to gain comfort and confidence in exploring who you are, what you want, and how past experiences or current circumstances may be impacting your life.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Illinois rather than a city like Chicago?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Illinois from Rockford to Springfield! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Illinois.

Will my therapist take OptumHealth Complex Medical Conditions?

Yes! If you use OptumHealth Complex Medical Conditions you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have OptumHealth Complex Medical Conditions you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
