Welcome. I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor (LCPC) in Illinois with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, post graduate certifications in : marriage and family therapy, IFS, addictions/ codepencedncy, family therapy, breathwork, DBT, group, and and trauma therapy, practicing for 40 years. I assist clients in their healing, recovery, and increased agency. I will work with individuals and the systems within which they operate.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll identify your strengths and areas of resiliance and shore up your emotional support network to maximize safety within and outside of the therapy session. We will discuss the specific challenges you face and co-create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. We will develop a vision of your healing, growth, and best life as our guide. I can't wait to get started!

I am a seasoned professional who cares. I have a balance of skill and dedication. I view our work together as a collaboration and will treat you with respect, compassion, and fa ocus on your competency. I am committed to partner with you and will view you as complete, whole and able to make the changes necessary for your growth. I will assist you to discover resources to support your growth and expedite your changes.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work with clients with a history of trauma, codependency, addiction, family conflict, caregiving, grief, life transitions, and LGBTQ issues as well as the families of individuals with these issues. Through our work clients will be empowered to experience greater healing, self advocacy and agency through individual, couples, family, and group therapy. I provide multifamily therapy and caregivers support groups.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Completed 2 year training 2000 and have been an active practioner since. I use IFS to empowers direction from a higher self, to heal trauma, increase agency, and improve mindfulness in all interactions with self and others.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Trained by Marsha Linehan in 1993 and have been a DBT practicioner since. Use as a skill to improve emotional regulation, problem solving and assertive self advocacy especially in conflictual situations/ relationships.

Eclectic

I will facilitate the shoring up of resources and an emotional support system to scaffold and create safety prior to utilizing therapies like CBT. I will utilize psychoeducation prior to using techniques to preempt over vulnerability. I will always use the compassion of the Humanistic approach and the model of health and resilience represented in Adlerian framework. I will explore the systems in which clients live and come to normalize their experiences and and assist them to adjust their responses to maximize their life satisfaction.

Imago Relationship Theory

Trained in 1990 I employ this philophy and tecniques with couples to facilitate shared perspectives, goals and as a tool to improve communication an conflict resolution skills within couples therapy.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Trained in 2018, I use this model with several populaltons to facilitate accountability especially in treatment of addiction/ codependency.
