New to Grow
My name is Wendy Ortiz. I am bilingual in both English and Spanish. As a Relational and EMDR Therapist with over eight years of experience, I enjoy helping folks by providing a safe and non judgmental space. My objective in the therapy space is to promote healing, self-exploration, clarity and empowerment. Whatever you may be going through right now, I care and look forward to offering support throughout the therapeutic process.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session we will get acquainted with each other. I will have questions for you that include reasons for seeking therapy, history and goals, however, given that it will be our first meeting, you may feel free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. This meeting we will determine if we are a good fit.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
The therapeutic approach used to support clients include, Relational cultural therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization), Harm Reduction, CBT, DBT, Anti-Oppressive lenses, LGBTQIA +Affirming and gender affirming approaches or other modalities tailored to yours needs.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My focus centers around helping folks navigate through different difficulties including but not limited to work stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, collective trauma, generational trauma, gender and sexual identities or grief of losing a loved one through death or estrangement.
EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapeutic technique designed to help individuals process distressing or traumatic memories, reducing the emotional impact that trauma can have on the nervous system. During EMDR therapy, clients engage in bilateral stimulation, which aids them in processing troubling events, often leading to a sense of resolution after treatment.
Relational
I am a relational therapist and believe that relationships are present in every aspect of our lives, including those with colleagues, intimate partners, friends, family and within therapeutic settings. The therapeutic relationship itself is essential for identifying patterns of interaction and helping clients develop healthier relational behaviors outside of the therapy space.
