Hello there I'm Twaina,
I approach psychotherapy from a person-centered, supportive role, where I utilize great active listening skills first. From there, I mentor, guide, and help my client by assisting in being a change agent, helping to change thoughts and perceptions that create those judgments in life, whether judging others, situations, or self. I meet the client where they are.
Counseling is more than a career choice for me. It’s my response to what I believe is a divine calling that I’m honored to answer! Professionally I hold Master’s degrees in Education and Clinical Mental Health, a National Board Certification in Counseling and a Professional Counselor license. My credentials qualify me in this work but it’s my passion for people, my fascination with human behavior and conviction about humans’ birthright to sustainable joy that drives me.
I take a holistic, integrative approach to counseling, exploring the needs of the whole person - mind, body and spirit. I'll encourage you to embrace the idea that we're all intrinsically whole and have power in all circumstances that life and choices confront us with. Despite how bleak things may seem, you'll be reminded you have what it takes to not only endure but prevail! Sometimes we just need a little help discovering growth and meaning amid the noise of our anxieties, fears and regrets.

I am a counselor who believes that the therapeutic relationship is essential. From the moment I first meet a client I want to do everything in my power to help them feel comfortable. I acknowledge that counseling can be daunting - meeting a stranger and sharing the intimate details of one's life is frightening. I assure my clients that they are in a safe place and they can share as much or as little as they like. Regardless, they will be accepted unconditionally.

I specialize in working with teens, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and behavioral challenges. I also have specialized training in Perinatal Mental Health, supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, pregnancy loss, and the emotional adjustments that can come with growing a family. In addition, I have experience supporting individuals and caregivers coping with chronic illness, cancer, and other significant health challenges, recognizing the connection between emotional and physical wellness.
My goal is to create a warm, judgment-free space where you feel comfortable being yourself while we work together toward meaningful change. I believe therapy should be collaborative, empowering, and tailored to your individual needs. Whether you’re seeking coping skills, healing from difficult experiences, or support during a challenging season of life, I’m here to help you build resilience, strengthen your confidence, and move forward with hope.
Life can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. My role is to meet you where you are, help you discover your strengths, and equip you with the tools to create lasting, meaningful change.
