I have 25 years of experience working with all age groups, couples, family, adolescents, elderly and all races where I utilize CBT as a base and add other modalities as needed. I believe each person is an individual that cannot be put into a 'fits all' box. I believe a commitment with patience over time can lead to significant growth and understanding of oneself. Mindfulness, Carl Jung's Shadow Work as well as Negative Core Beliefs can lead to changes that offer a completely new way of living and thriving. I also have experience with the LGBT+ community. A therapist in my experience adds a level of effectiveness having done therapy ourselves and I have put a lot of time and effort on the other side of the therapeutic relationship. It has allowed me a strong level of empathy and understanding of what clients go through when in therapy. Substance Abuse is an area I also have experience with.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I am not the doctor who tells a client to stop smoking while smoking themselves. I have done therapy myself and have a great deal of empathy for clients, what they may experience in therapy and know that the first session can be intimidating, especially if never having done therapy. I have been told by clients that I am very personable, use humor as a healing tool and way to destress. Clients tend to quickly relax with me when experiencing that I do not judge. I have never seen any client as less than another.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am personable, use humor as a tool for destressing and remembering that life is not all stress and negative. We can all learn to laugh more. I also connect quickly with clients and their needs. I see all clients as individuals. I have been told a lot by clients that they feel I am on the journey with them.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with clients that come to therapy understanding that real change takes time and a commitment to the process. Often clients will come wanting a quick fix and stop therapy when one specific issue and episode is better. I have witnessed in my own life and that of clients the amazing transformations that occur when one is willing to go deeper, stay focused when it gets hard and learn why they feel and think when those are not leading to healthy results. I do not give up on clients. They would have to give up on themselves.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy as a baseline, adding other modalities as warranted per individual client or couple

Couples Counseling

I have a long history of working with couples to work through barriers to a healthy relationship with effective communication as a foundation to conflicts in the relationship

Jungian

I implement shadow work as an effective way to address issues often overlooked in their importance. I see this as closely related to Negative Core Beliefs which I also use a lot

Family Therapy

I have done family therapy with individual sessions added per need for best results

Hypnotherapy

I am trained in hypnotherapy with NLP being my main interest. I do not do these virtually but do have resources when I feel the client would benefit from practicing these techniques at home
