I’ve been passionate about psychology since I was eighteen, when I began studying it in Cuba. My mother once told me she had always dreamed of being a psychologist but had to follow another path—and that dream inspired my own. After completing my degree in Cuba, where I worked in inpatient and school settings, I continued my journey in the United States and earned my master’s degree in psychology. Over the years, I’ve worked with children, families, and adults through moments of crisis, grief, and major life transitions. My experience with multidisciplinary teams has taught me to see each person as a whole—emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially. Healing happens when we look at the full picture of someone’s life, not just their symptoms.

Hello. I am a caregiver by nature and have worked in many roles in healthcare. I love helping and healing. I often use art therapy techniques in therapy that heal by putting things on paper to make thoughts and feelings tangible, so we can see them, touch them and wrap our mind around it and what heals. I was born into a musical family and see how music can be a powerful tool to heal, to manage and to cope. My practice is grounded in proven strategies and most of my clients do get better. Therapy works. I have seen it thousands of times at this point in my career. I can only hope that what has helped others will help you meet your therapy goals too.

I am licensed in Florida with 10+ years of professional work experience in conflict resolution and mental health counseling. I believe that empowerment is an essential and powerful tool in the healing process. I approach the therapist-client relationship with an open heart and mind, building upon trust, collaboration, and empathy to produce positive, transformative outcomes. I seek to facilitate change by entering the client’s psychological world, utilizing a phenomenological lens; this allows me to focus on the lived experiences of each individual and the personal meaning behind their circumstances past, present, and future to determine the most effective therapeutic interventions. My holistic approach to psychotherapy focuses on the overall relationship between mind, body & spirit. I have experience in helping clients with LGBTQ+ related issues, relationship issues, life transitions, family conflicts, coping with grief, coping with loss, motivation, and self esteem. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.

*Currently accepting new clients via teletherapy, and in-person.* I am ready to help you! I have been a therapist for 10+ years and my mission is to help you find balance in your life. I view therapy through a holistic standpoint, in which I use the mind and the body to help you get to the wellness that you so deserve. I became a therapist because I wanted to help clients navigate the stresses of work and life and make meaningful changes that would improve their mental well-being. At the first session, you can expect a non-judgmental and an easy-going conversation to build up a therapeutic alliance. At the moment, I practice in-person and over tele-health, giving us the flexibility to connect conveniently and safely. I received a Master's degree in family psychology, in 2010, from Hardin-Simmons University in Texas. I engage others by helping them feel comfortable while also being solution focused. I prescribe to a Cognitive behavioral approach which helps others see life's problems and solutions in a better light. I work with individuals ages 5-100, families, adolescents, marriage or relationship counseling, premarital counseling, and parents who need some guidance raising their children. Some areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, bipolar, problem solving, relationship specialist, communication skills, anger management, coping skills, relaxation exercises, and panic attacks.

Trained as a psychologist (Ph.D. from Cornell University). Some 20 years later I earned a second graduate degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. I am a fully licensed therapist in the State of Florida. I have taught psychology at Princeton, Tulane, Cornell, and Harvard Medical School. We will spend most of our time creating solutions, instead of analyzing problems. So often, therapy gets bogged down in the endless exploration of problems. Problems are the results of behaviors that didn't work for you in the past. Solutions flow from changes that will work for you starting right now. Solutions make your life better. They bring joy and peace to your life.

Together, we can look at disappointments, core beliefs that support dysfunction, and determine the best way out. All that will be asked of you is to participate in therapy with the courage and honesty needed to be truthful about what is getting in the way of achieving your goals, be willing to cope with fear and learn something new. In addition, along the way we will practice guided meditation and visualization with progressive muscle relaxation as a means to facilitate improved focus and mindfulness.

Hello, I'm Allison. I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist who has been in private practice since 2018. I previously worked in dual diagnosis treatment centers for addiction/ mental health for seven years. I help individuals, couples and families improve communication, rebuild connection, and navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence. Many times clients who contact me have no experience in therapy, but just know that their life is not satisfying or something is off. That's enough by the way! Anything and everything can be discussed in therapy. I have frequently been told I'm easy to open up to, and clients often feel relieved that I am more directive than a therapist who listens without guidance. I enjoy cheering on my clients' wins, but also being there for the hard moments, and genuinely love what I do. Finding relief and reconnecting with a sense of peace is more achievable than it might feel right now—and once you start, the process of change often unfolds more quickly than you expect. Peace. Happiness. Love. Success. We seek them. We want them. As we see them within reach, we are knocked down by the challenges and difficulties of life. We find, instead, lives that are filled with anxiety, sadness, grief, trauma, loss and failure. I know this too well. I have experienced this in my own life and in the life of my clients. It does not matter where you are in your life. I have had celebrity clients at the top of their field. I have worked with gold medal athletes. I have worked with businessmen and women, housewives, families, adolescents. I have also worked with those who have lost everything to the ravishes of substance use and with men serving life in prison. It is possible to navigate the dangerous waters of life, but you will need a guide. I am that guide. I have excellent education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. I have a wealth of experience. I have over three decades of experience as a husband, father, grandfather, youth pastor, counselor and university professor. I have worked in the church, private practice (in Florida and the Bahamas), community mental health (specializing in crisis and families with at-risk-adolescents), foster care, substance abuse, juvenile justice and the prisons. I have maintained my relevance by teaching at the university level, advising a best-selling author on the psychological aspects of his book, and serving as a consultant to other mental health agencies. I have wonderful experience working with anxiety, depression, anger, parenting issues, challenging children and teenagers, grief, trauma, substance use issues, family and relationship issues, LGBT issues, and other issues and concerns. I have helped my clients find peace with themselves, with others and in their situations. I have helped my clients find happiness, even amid loss. I have helped my clients find belonging and love in healthy and supportive relationships. I have helped my clients increase their ability to succeed by changing their thinking. One of the foundations of my life and my work was written by M. Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled. He wrote, “Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths… Life is a series of problems. Do we want to moan about them or solve them? Do we want to teach our children to solve them?” Let’s start today to solve some of life’s problems and to begin to grasp peace, happiness, love and success.

I began my career in neurofeedback, spending 7 years working with children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD, autism, sleep difficulties, anxiety, depression, and other neurodivergent experiences. From there, I spent 2 years at a survivor’s center, helping individuals heal from domestic violence, violent crimes, and grief. During this time, I also worked closely with the LGBTQIA+ community, including facilitating groups for individuals of the trans experience. I also worked for 5 years with children and adolescents transitioning out of a Baker Act and receiving sometimes getting into therapy for the first time, which gave me extensive experience in crisis intervention, family systems, and the importance of providing stability and hope during vulnerable times. Most recently, for the past 3 years, I have been serving clients through the Grow Therapy, where I’ve had the privilege of reaching individuals who previously struggled to access care or find a therapeutic connection locally. This work has strengthened my belief that therapy should be accessible, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique story. If you’re seeking a therapist who will meet you with empathy, understanding, and practical support, I would be honored to work alongside you. Together, we can create a path toward the goals and growth you want for yourself.

Welcome! I am Carolyne Cole, a marriage and family counselor. I specialize in marriage and family therapy. I also work with young adults and seniors who are bravely taking steps toward bringing positive change into their lives. My approach to therapy is pretty eclectic. I use principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will help you shut down unhelpful distortions about yourself and provide personal coping strategies that will support problem-solving in your life. Narrative Therapy will help you identify your values and skills so that you can use them to confront current and future challenges. I also offer spiritual counseling if you are seeking to explore or solidify your spiritual beliefs. I am also a Certified Grief Therapist. I began my calling in mental health following my retirement from a 35 year career in education. I am a published author and I hold a master’s degree in American Studies, and I have earned the distinguished National Board Certification in English Education. I have taught in public and private schools, community colleges, and universities in both Florida and Eastern Europe. All these experiences have widened my understanding and make it easier to relate to a variety of people and cultures. It also makes it easy for me to connect with you. I am a native Floridian, married for 44 years to a former University of South Florida professor, so I understand what it means to live life and overcome challenges in the Sunshine State. My heart is to support you wherever you are on your journey, ease your worries about the future, and give you practical tools to heal.

A client comes in to see her therapist and is 10 minutes late. She sits down and apologizes for her tardiness, to which the therapist replies that no apologies are necessary as clients are only late for their first session. The vignette illustrates something that I see in clients repeatedly who come into my office. Many should have come in at least a year or two ago but for some reason think that the problems they experience are still manageable. While I admire the will of many of those who still manage life like the proverbial Dutch Boy and the dike, I believe that asking for help is a strength of its own. In therapy, I come from the perspective of someone that had to receive help at various times in my life. I've also had a meandering career path, meaning that I've worked in several fields and industries prior to becoming a therapist and have been able to do ground-level empathizing with people who work in blue and white-collar professions.
