About me

I'm Dr. Sheila Davis, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with nearly 30 years of experience helping adults navigate life's most difficult seasons. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or life's transitions. They may be carrying the weight of everyone else, struggling with self-worth or people-pleasing, healing from trauma, divorce, or unhealthy relationships, or trying to rediscover who they are. Clients describe me as friendly, engaging, caring, and down-to-earth. I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing your story, gain practical tools for change, and build the confidence to create the life you want.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Wow, you are thinking about starting therapy! In my book, that is a courageous step, and my goal is to help you feel comfortable from the moment we meet. During our first session, we'll explore what has brought you to therapy, the challenges you're facing, and what you hope will be different in your life. We'll begin identifying the patterns that may be keeping you stuck while also recognizing the strengths that will help you move forward. Together, we'll develop a plan tailored to your goals and your pace. My hope is that you'll leave feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of direction and hope.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe meaningful change begins with feeling truly seen, heard, and understood. My approach combines nearly 30 years of clinical experience with warmth, compassion, and practical, evidence-based strategies. I help clients identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, build on their strengths, and develop healthier ways of coping with life's challenges. While I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space, I also believe therapy should lead to growth and lasting change. Together, we'll work toward increasing self-awareness, strengthening resilience, and helping you move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and hope.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, or life's transitions and are ready to make meaningful changes. They may be carrying the weight of everyone else, struggling with self-worth, people-pleasing, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, or difficult life decisions. I especially enjoy working with women who have spent years caring for everyone else and are ready to invest in their own healing, confidence, and personal growth. At the same time, I welcome all adults who are looking for a supportive therapist to help them gain insight, develop practical coping skills, and create lasting change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps us understand how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. In our work together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship challenges and replace them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. I combine CBT with practical strategies to help you build coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and make meaningful, lasting changes in your daily life.

Attachment-based

Our earliest relationships often influence how we view ourselves, trust others, and respond to stress, conflict, and connection. Using an attachment-based approach, we'll explore patterns that may have developed over time and how they continue to impact your relationships and emotional well-being today. Together, we'll work toward building healthier relationships, strengthening self-worth, and helping you feel more secure, connected, and confident in yourself and others.

Faith based therapy

For clients who wish to incorporate their faith into therapy, I thoughtfully integrate their spiritual beliefs alongside evidence-based counseling. My approach is client-centered and respectful, allowing faith to serve as a source of strength, hope, and guidance while supporting emotional healing and personal growth.

Imago Relationship Theory

Relationships often reflect patterns we learned long before adulthood. Using Imago Relationship Theory, we'll explore how past experiences shape the way you communicate, respond to conflict, and connect with others. As we increase awareness of these patterns, you'll learn healthier ways to communicate, strengthen relationships, and make choices that align with the kind of connection you want to build. Whether you're working through relationship challenges, healing after a breakup or divorce, or simply seeking healthier relationships, this approach helps create greater understanding, emotional safety, and lasting growth.
