Hi there! My name is Angel Lopez and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Telehealth Practitioner, National Certified Counselor, Master Certified Addiction Professional, and Qualified Supervisor located in Miami, Florida. My experience includes working with individuals and families in community settings as well as in private practice. I have direct work experience using a holistic approach to help address a wide range of concerns related to mental health, substance abuse, and LGBTQ+ issues. It is an honor to walk alongside my clients on their healing journeys toward their well-being.
During our first session, we are getting to know each other. I am gaining a better understanding of who you are and the circumstances that have led you to the point of preparing to begin therapy. Similarly, you are getting to know me, my style and assessing if you believe we are are good match in moving forward and working together. Our first session together will consist of information gathering and exploration, to determine the best way forward.
I look forward to working with clients who are oftentimes struggling to find motivation for their inner truth and authentic sense of self. My passion for this field falls nowhere short of my desire to follow a path of understanding, authenticity, and self-truth. From a young age, faced with diversity and difference, I was able to understand the importance of resiliency, compassion, and acceptance. My interest in learning the stories of others and providing guidance on becoming the best version of themselves has continuously evolved throughout my career. This has allowed me to genuinely connect with others while they embrace the strengths that assist them in navigating their obstacles. Being aware of our needs and seeking help is a difficult, yet courageous choice.
The clients I most commonly work with are clients suffering with concerns related to: General Mental Health Depression Anxiety Personal Growth and Self-Esteem LGBTQIA+ Addiction and Substance Misuse Trauma and stressor related concerns
Person-centered therapy becomes especially effective in helping my clients work through self-esteem issues, identity exploration, or emotional processing. In this way, the core principles —such as unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence (authenticity)—are widely applicable and can enhance our therapeutic relationship.
CBT provides structured, evidence-based tools to help my clients manage negative thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors. Together we discuss practical coping skills, foster a goal-oriented approach, and focus on the present to create meaningful change. CBT is adaptable to a wide range of issues, promotes self-efficacy, and encourages active participation inside and outside of sessions. By integrating CBT, my client develop effective strategies to achieve lasting improvements in their mental health and overall well-being.
