A quote that has always brought me courage, "Into the Great Perhaps," moves us to embrace the unknown. It's an invitation to dream and a challenge to have the courage to step into uncertainty. This concept deeply resonates with my therapeutic approach. I emphasize that embracing uncertainty is where growth and transformation occur. In therapy, we'll explore the uncharted territories of your thoughts, emotions, and relationships and view life's challenges as opportunities for personal growth. Together, we'll journey toward self-discovery and personal development. Life is filled with uncertainties, and navigating the intricacies of relationships can often resemble an unmapped voyage. Yet, within these unknowns lies the potential for healing and transformation. Let's uncover what the "Great Perhaps" means for you. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with years of experience, I provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your experiences. I firmly believe in the resilience of the human spirit and our capacity for positive change, even amidst adversity.

Hi there! I am a 1st Generation Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am an immigrant daughter, born and raised in Ventura County, California. My parents came from the state of Michoacan, Mexico when they were in their late teen years. They met here in the United States, fell in love, and conceived 5 daughters. My parents taught me A LOT about community and giving back to others in need, even though at times it felt like we were the ones in need. Nonetheless, I inherited a helper and healer's DNA. Growing up in an environment where it was ingrained for us to care for others, I decided early on in my teen years that I wanted to study psychology. It fascinated me how much I learned on my own about human behavior just by observing others. As it turns out, it came from an internal need to learn more about myself and my behaviors. Through my undergraduate and graduate education, I was able to do just this while using an intersectionality lens. Through my journey in therapy, I was also able to learn about the balance I needed between caring for others and caring for myself. Not only that, but I was also able to hone in more on who I am as a person and what I want for my future self by shedding familial and societal pressures. For this reason, I have established a strong passion for working with 1st Generation young adults working to connect back to their true intentions and life ideals. I use an eclectic vision for therapy to support individuals in re-discovering themselves and/or connecting them back to their roots. I have a focus on supporting others going through changes and life transitions, depression and anxiety related to childhood trauma and symptoms of ADHD, women's health and the impact on our mental health, and relationship challenges. I started my career in mental health through a non-profit/community-based sector, so I have a "whatever it takes" approach to helping those I serve to get to a space of relief and comfort in their lives. Thank you for reading, and I hope you connect with the best therapist for you!

Born and raised in California’s San Francisco Bay Area, I bring over a decade of experience to Grow Therapy clients, supporting the development of more fulfilling relationships. I am driven by a lifelong passion for the work of psychotherapy, my inclination toward empathic human connection, and the enduring belief that we as humans have a natural tendency to move in the direction of psychological growth & healing. After completing a master's degree in Counseling Psychology at The Wright Institute in 2011, my work focused for six years on serving low-income families navigating a range of issues such as homelessness, active domestic violence, substance dependence, child welfare involvement, community gun violence, complex childhood trauma, teen pregnancy, and chronic homelessness. While helping parents to connect with crucial community resources, I supported them and their children in developing more fulfilling relationships, more secure attachments, and more effective strategies for coping with stress. Prior to my 2021 move to Maryland, I was serving pregnant women at-risk for substance use and peripartum depression/anxiety in a busy OBGYN clinic in San Francisco while also maintaining a thriving private practice treating adults and children for a range of difficulties. Most recently, I held a leadership position at a therapeutic program for preschoolers before transitioning back into private practice where I am pleased to be connecting with the GrowTherapy community!

Thank you for considering me as your therapist in your journey to improving your mental health!  Seeking treatment can be an extremely daunting task, especially within a culture where mental health is not openly discussed.  This leaves individuals struggling alone with distressing mental health symptoms including anxiety, stress, fear, insecurities, isolation, depression, racing thoughts, poor self-image and many others.  With a lack of support or a safe environment to openly share these experiences, it can be extremely difficult and overwhelming to understand how to manage these symptoms in a healthy way.  This can lead to maladaptive coping skills including substance use, overworking, self-harm, suicidal ideations, hypersexuality, and other risky behaviors.  Even maladaptive coping skills are included in the brain's effort to protect us from the discomfort that comes with mental health symptoms. My goal is to assist empower clients to take control and manage these symptoms independently.  I assist clients with gaining insight about their difficulties and how they experience mental health symptoms in their lives.  I provide clients with psychoeducation to achieve this insight and then work toward developing concrete coping skills in an effort to manage the symptoms.  We will work together to identify short term and long term goals that the client hoping to achieve in therapy and I will ensure that we stay on track toward achieving those goals.  Through accomplishing these goals, clients are able to increase their emotional intelligence and resilience as they manage day to day stressors. I have worked for years in the forensic setting, which includes the state hospital system and county jail system, working with adult offenders.  I am structured in my approach and committed to seeing progress for my clients as they take on the challenge of self-improvement.  My clinical orientation is in trauma work.  I assist clients with understanding their trauma in their life and how it impacts them today.  I emphasize the unique cultural backgrounds of my clients and all the different traits of their identity to assist them with understanding themselves in a more complete way. In person services available for clients near Santa maria, Ca.  Telehealth services are available for clients throughout the state.
