I have spent the last 20 years helping people find their way when the road gets bumpy. I’ve been a fully licensed Social Worker since 2014 and have worked with people from all walks of life during that time. My specialties are mental health (including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder) substance abuse, and duel diagnosis. I have experience working with men and women from diverse racial backgrounds and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have worked with members of the armed forces and veterans. On a personal note, many years ago a social worker came into my life and helped me find my way. That is why I am a social worker and why I have compassion for whatever it is you are struggling with. You’ve done the hardest part which is to reach out for help.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will be spent allowing me to get to know you, to discuss what you are struggling with and where you would like to go in therapy. Then we will talk a bit about how I think I can help and make a preliminary plan to get started on your therapeutic journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Real life experience. While I do have a good educational, I also have real-life experience that cannot be learned from a book. The tools I teach are the tools I use in my life.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I have found that no one particular type of therapy can cover all of the individual therapeutic needs of an individual. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is my primary therapeutic mode. I believe we can change the way we feel by changing the way we think. However, not all thoughts and emotions can be shifted so additional therapeutic modes are necessary. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) offer numerous tools that can be utilized to help mitigate the emotional impact of painful feelings. What is most important for an individual is to have a wide variety of tools that can be utilized as needed to support strong mental health.
