Hello, my name is Peter, a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based here in California. I have been practicing for well over a year and helping my client with ADHD, Bipolar I/II , Severe anxiety/panic disorder, Major depression, Generalized Anxiety disorder, PTSD, Insomnia, OCD, Schizophrenia/schizoaffective d/o, Substance Use disorder, Body dysmorphic disorder, Borderline personality disorder, ect, CBT/CPT therapy
In my first session we do have a general introduction. The client get to know me as I do know them as well. By doing so, helps to formulate the best plan that meets the individual need in an atmosphere free from fear and intimidation. I encourage mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.
My curiosity to become Mental health Practitioner developed after 10 years of working with clients with Substance use disorder, anger management issues, and relationship problems. My compassion and attitude has not change. But what has change is a better understanding based on sophisticated knowledge to address the wide range of issues that my client are facing. So far, good reviews and feed back from my clients are just refreshing.
I work especially with teenagers from ages 13, to mid adults. I have also, elderly clients as well.
Working with patients with major depression, bipolar disorder and other related mood disorder, severe anxiety, acute or chronic ptsd, and body dysmorphic disorder especially with anorexia. CBT do not only help identify the negative thoughts and behaviors, but change and replace them. A 12 week session with session(s) once a week or more for an hour. I do offer medication management depending on the severity of the symptoms.
I use this therapy mostly for client with ptsd with underlying traumatic experience like rape, child abuse ect. I use CPT to help client identify and challenge unhelpful belief that has formed a strong hold, and seek practical ways at replacing these thoughts with beneficial and healthy thoughts. These process helps the client begging the process of developing healthy thought life, that eventually replaces old unhealthy thoughts, with formation of new progressive, and functional belief system.
