Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I was a social worker for 10 years for foster care/adoption agencies. I then worked for a clinical nonprofit agency for over 7 ears in which I worked in school setting, child clinic, advocate to parents, and then adult clinic. I have been working through private practice fulltime since April 2024. I enjoy working with different people with different struggles. I enjoy providing a different perspective to my clients.
For first sessions, I will give you a background of my experience. next i will get information and background on you as my client. Then I usually open up time if there is time available to see if there is anything I can help with before the next session. Finally I usually end with how I do sessions (homework, or not, structured, or not)
I am nonjudgmental and I like to think outside of the box. I have been said I can be direct, even though I have always felt I was open and safe for my clients.
When someone realizes that their thoughts or way of thinking impact their behaviors and actions, he or she can become aware and then decide to make changes (or not). Our way of thinking often impacts our lives, especially when we get "stuck."
A person and their therapist cannot make as much progress or change without the humanistic side. By allowing a person to feel unjudged and safe in a therapy space allows for growth.
A person has a better opportunity for growth if they have goals (short term and/or long term) that drives them forward. But even with having goals, having the flexibility to know your goals can change at any time allows for growth without restrictions.
