Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

As a therapist, I would aim to create a welcoming and safe environment for clients in their first session. The initial meeting typically focuses on: Introductions and building rapport Discussing confidentiality and therapy policies Gathering background information and history Exploring the client's reasons for seeking therapy Identifying goals and expectations for treatment Answering any questions the client may have I'd emphasize that the first session is about getting to know each other and determining if we're a good fit. There's no pressure to delve deeply into difficult topics right away. I'd encourage clients to share what feels comfortable and let them know they can take things at their own pace. By the end of the session, we'd aim to have a general direction for future sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have been teacher and a school counselor for many years, and I have dealt with an array of issues as a teacher, a parent and a therapist.

I provide services that focus on relationship issues, PTSD, conflict resolution, communication, substance abuse, grief, and anger management. My areas of expertise include substance abuse, grief, anger management, and more. I provide practical skills and applications for disease management and education.

From my very first session, I felt safe, supported, and truly listened to. She has a gift for understanding complex situations without making me feel “too much” or difficult. Her compassion, insight, and willingness to address even hard topics head-on left me feeling lighter, hopeful, and confident that I’m in the right hands.
