Hello, I am Flor Martinez and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who has worked with individuals, children, teens and families for approximately 16 years. As an affirming therapist, I have knowledge of working with LGBTQ+ community and I am bilingual and can work with Spanish-speaking clients too! I pride myself in providing a safe, non-judgmental, non-biased environment in which I guide my clients through difficulties they are experiencing in their lives, assist them in meeting their personal therapeutic goals that often times entail improvement in their relationships and enhancing their overall mental well-being. While I would definitely describe myself as an empathic and supportive therapist, I also have the ability to give my clients healthy challenges to match their therapy goals. I believe one of the biggest strengths I also possess is my ability to connect well with others which allows my clients to feel at ease usually on their first visit with me!
Clients can expect to have a non-biased, supportive environment in which they will have all their questions answered from the very beginning of treatment.
My strengths are: open-mindedness, supportive, affirming provider, empathic but can challenge my clients to work towards their therapeutic goals. I am a Latina and Spanish-speaker which allows me to connect to various populations of clients that are monolingual.
I'm fairly versatile with the clients that I work with. The fact that I am an affirming provider allows me to work well with the LGBTQ+ community and I am also a bilingual, Spanish-speaker who can easily connect with Latino/Spanish-speaking clients. Additionally, I have an extensive amount of experience working with children and teens.

How things occurred in a person's past may have shaped who they are today and it is good to know some background about the client's upbringing, how their primary caretakers shaped their lives.
I enjoy teaching my clients about how their thoughts can impact their feelings, how distorted thoughts can disrupt their outlook on life and some behaviors. I teach my clients strategies that can enhance their overall thoughts and increase their overall mental health.
