Robby Borton
I feel lucky every day that I go to work as a therapist and support my clients through their ups and downs. Throughout it all, I am there walking alongside them and helping them find a way forward. I know that I don't have all the answers and I truly believe that most change and insight comes from people themselves. But I can hold a space for people to find in themselves the answers to the questions they have about their life. I have worked with clients of all age ranges, and feel a special affinity for parents, college students, and men who want a better life for themselves and their loved ones and are interested in putting in work towards this goal. I have struggled with depression during my college years and I know what it means to have a good therapist at your side to help you, and what it's like to have someone who doesn't get you.
First session
Clients who work with me can expect a therapist who will listen to their story, not make assumptions, and who will respect their autonomy in and out of sessions. I do not tell my clients what to do, I help them discover for themselves a way forward that they are motivated to pursue. I will consistently check in about how therapy is going, gather feedback, and change my approach when it is needed. I love feedback because it makes me better. So expect to feel that you are in control and have input. I also will not drag therapy out when clients are ready to finish. It's an integral part of my approach to have consistent conversations about what client's goals are, when we have reached them, and when clients are ready to stop therapy.
Strengths
I am able to support clients with a wide range of issues and needs because I can hold a process, taking into account client needs and input, that meets clients' needs. With that said, my biggest strengths are probably working with children which I did a lot of earlier in my career, parents who struggle with parenting and balancing their needs, and young adults. I specialize in depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD or trauma treatment.
