Whatever you may be feeling (and for whatever reasons), your emotions are valid. Your thoughts and pain are valid. There are reasons behind them. Let's explore them together to help you meet your goals and find a helpful perspective. I have Master's degrees in Counseling and Religious Studies so I can incorporate spiritual guidance into counseling if you would like(completely optional). I have training in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and worked previously as a hospital chaplain which was an incredible experience. However, I'm proud to say that I have formed wonderful relationships with clients who are both spiritual and non-spiritual. I truly believe that everyone can improve themselves, find healing, and live a more fulfilling life with the right tools, honesty and openness, the willingness to make necessary changes, and a non-judgmental, compassionate environment. I work hard to create this for my clients.

Hello, I'm Beatriz, Do you ever feel like you second guess yourself a lot? Do you ever wonder when that started or where that comes from? Are you afraid that your choices will go against cultural traditions and family believes? Do you have trouble vocalizing your needs? I help individuals find their courage to start living the life that they really want for themselves. It's not easy, it takes practice, patience, and at times taking a little deeper look into our fears. Together we will explore fears, difficult emotions, relationships, we might even identify somethings that you may have been avoiding. Through motivational interviewing, we will explore what are your goals while in therapy. I use a strength based approach to start some action towards those goals. I start where you are and I will respect any decision you make along the way. Wether you are struggling through depression, anxiety, trauma, or want to overcome something to start a new adventure, this is a partnership. I am here to support you through the journey. Seeking therapy can feel scary at times, so I want to congratulate you for taking these steps. As a Latina, I know how hard it can be to not feel like you have a safe space to heal and grow. As a spoken word artist, I know the importance of telling your story. I will provide you with a space where there will be no judgement and a lot empathy. So, let's work together and start empowering your self love!

As a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I join in collaboration and congruency with my clients demonstrating warmth, empathy, and genuineness--fundamental to the development of a therapeutic relationship. CBT is designed to bring in balance with use of tools and resources based on functioning of the person. My personal philosophy of life for counseling is that 'serene tranquility' coupled with 'bringing in balance' is cornerstone to the rejuvenation of Hope. It is the road to recovery; for restoration of faith from doubt/grief/loss; for personal growth and development; for understanding self and functioning in relationships with others; and, with building self-confidence and -esteem geared towards recognizing inherent characteristic qualities of life: worth, value, and validation. CBT helps with understanding the functional roles of all emotions, both positive and negative, and their impact on behavioral responses. I believe that you are the expert and pilot of your own life; and, am here to assist you with navigating your life journey by providing a safe and caring space free of judgment as your life co-pilot. My name is Monique Harris, MA, LPC, LCDC. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas and Michigan. I have 8 years experience serving children, adolescents, families, and veterans through individual or group therapy who are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being. More specifically, addressing a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, and personality disorders. My counseling philosophy includes Rational Emotive Behavior and Choice Reality Therapy, placing emphasis on reshaping core beliefs in those individuals experiencing a variety of mental health conditions, thereby empowering them to live full, satisfying lives free from unnecessary psychological distress. Also, introducing the concept of choice and functioning in the here and now (reality), helping them understand that they have a choice and the power to change, adjust or enhance whatever it is that they want to alter about themselves, their situation or circumstances. My counseling style is compassionate, empathic, non-judgemental, and genuine. My goal is to empower individuals to live an emotional resilient, relentless, renewed, and restored lifestyle. I am looking forward to working with you!

Hello there! Take a deep breath. It's not easy finding the right therapist. I have been on the other side of the therapy desk and know how hard it is to open up to a stranger. It's okay if you are anxious about it, I understand this. I have provided therapy for almost 20 years and have been in the mental health field for over 25 years in a multitude of settings - schools, prisons, outpatient and inpatient facilities. I've been in private practice for about 8 years. If you need just a few sessions to gain just a few tools to help over a rough patch, we can collaborate on that. Or, if you are ready for a major change in your life to address some serious problems, we can work on that, as well. My approach is collaborative, meaning, you and I are a team to work towards a solution for your current challenges.

Olmos Park, TX - Accepting clients in TX

Hello, My name is Michael Berler, Ph.D., I'm a psychologist from San Antonio. I have a background in private practice and leadership roles at teaching hospitals in Houston and San Antonio. I define the process of therapy as a temporary, guided journey of healthy changes, in a judgement free zone. The other main element that specifically differentiates the process of therapy is confidentiality. Confidentiality can be thought of as a " steel vault" containing anything and everything you tell me in our sessions. It remains locked in your vault; and only you have the combination. There are exceptions to confidentiality that we'll discuss during out first session. I combine the two most effective treatment models that have been proven empirically that these models give a person a "system of change." Meaning these models of therapy have been studied or researched; and their effectiveness data, have been submitted and published in the professional literature over many decades. The first model that's referred to as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) examines the powerful domino effect between our thoughts, feelings and behavior choice patterns of the individual seeking therapy. The other model I practice examines the domains of the biological origins of feelings and behaviors, and how this domain interacts with the internal way we think of ourselves, that impacts the important relationships in our lives, inside and outside of our family. I look forward to and appreciate those who ask me to join them, as a temporary guide, on their therapeutic journey. As I remain a neutral "consultant" regarding one's efforts to become the best possible version of their internal sense of self. The process of therapy is more like a marathon versus a sprint. Although, also remember, that of both these metaphorical examples have their own time intervals as well.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take Optum?

Yes! If you use Optum you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Optum you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
