I believe Irvin Yalom said it best when he said we need to form a unique therapy for every person. We are all unique, our relationships and experiences are unique, and in therapy we need to find your own path forward in life. We can find that as a conversation between two experts, you being the expert in your own life, and me being an expert in this field. Together, we can work to help you find what you are looking for in therapy. Whether it is a skill and action motivated plan, or a space to emotionally process things regularly, or anything in between.

Is your child or teen struggling to manage emotions, behaviors, anxiety, or ADHD symptoms? Are they dealing with problems at school, such as office referrals, poor grades, or bullying? These are just some of the issues I have worked with, in more than 25 years of experience with youth as a teacher and mental health therapist. Are you finding it overwhelming to cope with your anxiety, ADHD symptoms, or low self-esteem? Do you wish you could take control of your negative thinking instead of it controlling you? I have experience working as a therapist with adults facing these concerns. I welcome you or your child to my practice!

I am a counselor who embodies empathy, compassion, and motivation in guiding my clients toward healing and self-discovery. My training in TEAM CBT, developed by Dr. David Burns, emphasizes the transformative power of confronting negative thoughts to drive positive emotional change. This method, rooted in the principle that 'The Truth Shall Set You Free,' focuses on identifying and challenging cognitive distortions. Additionally, as a Christian Counselor, I seamlessly integrate Christian principles with traditional talk therapy and TEAM CBT, ensuring that these approaches complement rather than conflict. This holistic blend allows for a therapy experience where clients address their mental health challenges and find deeper meaning and alignment with their spiritual beliefs.

Greetings! My name is Brian. After years working primarily with individuals who were court-ordered to chat with me, I've just recently started my own practice to spread my wings and talk with folks eager to improve their situations without quite so much external motivation. Some background information about me if you're interested: I attained my Masters in Clinical Social Work degree from Ferris State University and graduated with the highest honors. I've worked in housing and with those experiencing homelessness. I've worked with children in foster care and with the parents trying to get them back into their care. I've worked with teens and older adults and every age between, both individually and in groups. I've helped educate about substance use, adjust from violence and trauma, cope with depression and anxiety, and develop time-management and stress-management skills, among others. I'm proud of what I've accomplished thus far, but what can I say? I want to do more!

I believe in therapy as someone who has done my own clinical work since I was in my mid-twenties. I grew up in NJ and moved to Michigan to attend college and have been here since that time. I spent the first part of my career working in the foster care system with children and adolescents which I really enjoyed. That gave me a great foundation for working with the adult issues of attachment, child developmental stages that were not accomplished and struggles with current relationships. I do a lot of work with people who were raised by narcissistic parents, people who are dealing with cancer diagnosis and those with chronic or life threatening illnesses. I work with people who are addressing childhood trauma, sexual abuse or emotional abuse. I have worked with adoptees who are seeking understanding of themselves and their past. I do a lot of work with individuals transitioning from a divorce situation and all the adjustments that this involves especially in coparenting situations. I find people and their life experiences fascinating and always worth unpacking and investigating to gain a better understanding of the self as a whole being; there is always something new to learn.

I have also been an ordained Lutheran pastor since 1989. My professional career began as an Associate Pastor in a Lutheran church in northwest Ohio, where I focused on youth ministry, Christian Education, and pastoral counseling. I entered Social Work in 1995 when I began work as a Family Worker in a residential facility for hard to place juvenile offenders, and then worked in a few outpatient counseling agencies providing mental health and substance use disorder services. I have experience working with people of all ages on general mental health issues, such as managing depression and anxiety, and have specialized in the areas of PTSD recovery and domestic violence and sexual abuse victims and offenders. Throughout my counseling career, I have maintained activity in ministry. I was trained in Clinical Pastoral Counseling and also have had training as a Spiritual Director. My counseling approach is generally non-directive, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing in a Solution Focused, Client Centered frame work. I can incorporate spirituality as much or as little as the client desires, from not referencing spirituality at all to fully engaging the spiritual dimension of life. During the last several years, I have worked extensively with many families, adolescents, and couples to assist in their healing process using multiple evidence based therapeutic modalities. Life circumstances can have lasting impacts on everyone. During the coaching and /or therapeutic process, I look at how our environment, life experience, and current relationships have an impact on the coping mechanisms we utilize and the decisions we make. Allow me to be your accountability partner as we take this journey together.

I have been professionally helping people for over 33 years. During that time I have gained a lot of experience, training and education that I put to work for you to help you get to where you want to be. I am nonjudgmental, compassionate and easy to relate to. I absolutely love what I do and my life has meaning because I see people I council get in with their life and living in healthy and meaningful ways. I am truly here for you. I could have retired a long time ago but I cannot believe that there is anything more satisfying or fulfilling than helping people when they reach out and ask for it.

Hi I'm Gaby. If you have been feeling sick and stuck in a negative thought process and wondering if there is anyone who can understand or help you, let's talk. I am here to help you experience change and escape from the pattern of life that has left you feeling different, unwell, and stuck. I am first and foremost a Trauma Informed Recovery Therapist. This means that I believe in you and I believe in your goals and I know we can find a way to get there while acknowledging all that you have been through. I realized I wanted to become a therapist during a serendipitous summer camp experience—40 feet in the air on the high ropes course, I learned that I loved helping people process challenging experiences in creative ways. I love using a lot of different approaches depending on what we are working on. Some of my favorite methods are cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, strength based therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I have been doing individual therapy with teens and adults of all ages since 2020. Previously, I worked as a clinical consultant, clinical director, and clinical supervisor in specialized mental health rehabilitation settings. I have been supporting people in creating and meeting their goals since 2012. I have used all of my past work experiences to learn how to work with clients to explore dreams, and strengths, and learn how to make these things their reality. I use eclectic strategies to support people as they sort through their lives and figure out ways to move forward in a new light. I believe that therapy is a special space that allows a person to sit, process, and problem-solve in a way that can’t always be done in day-to-day.
