I have found that many people enter therapy not because of a complex mental health issue but because of a general feeling of life not being what they would like it to be. I've been there. Many years ago I embarked on my own personal growth journey and I believe that has made me a more compassionate, empathic therapist. I am very active in the therapeutic process and give direct feedback and suggestions for implementing lifestyle changes. I have been a therapist for over 30 years, specializing primarily in depression/anxiety, relationship issues, and addiction/alcoholism. I believe that pain shared is pain lessened and that people can and do recover from issues that have been troubling them for years. I work with individuals and couples. I utilize a cognitive behavioral approach. Think you're ready to start making the changes that you've been thinking about for quite some time? Call me. Let's talk about it. Evening and weekend appointments are available.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I believe healing is about more than reducing symptoms—it’s about helping you reconnect with the person you were always meant to be. If you’ve been living in survival mode, carrying the weight of trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, know that healing is possible. My goal is to provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you feel safe, heard, and supported as you move toward lasting emotional wellness. I provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy that honors the connection between the mind, body, emotions, and relationships. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, nervous system regulation, somatic practices, and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) for couples. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor treatment to your unique experiences, strengths, values, and goals, recognizing that every healing journey is different. Many of the people I work with have spent years putting everyone else’s needs before their own. They may struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, low self-worth, burnout, unresolved trauma, grief, or feeling disconnected from themselves. Others are navigating difficult relationships, divorce, parenting challenges, or significant life changes and want healthier ways to cope. Together, we’ll identify the patterns that are keeping you stuck and begin creating new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding that support the life you want to build. Our work together will focus on understanding how past experiences continue to influence your present. We’ll explore the beliefs, behaviors, and emotional patterns that developed as protective strategies while learning practical skills to regulate your nervous system, manage stress, improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, strengthen self-trust, and cultivate resilience. My goal is not simply to help you feel better in the moment, but to help you create meaningful, sustainable change that lasts long after therapy ends.

My name is Rafiah Maxie-Cole, and I’m honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and wholeness. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience, I’ve supported individuals through a wide range of challenges—always with compassion, cultural awareness, and unwavering belief in their capacity to grow. This work is personal. I understand the weight of grief and the complexity of emotional pain—having lost my son to suicide. That loss fuels my commitment to creating safe, affirming spaces where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. I don’t just offer tools—I offer presence, partnership, and hope. My greatest strength lies in listening deeply and holding space without judgment. I honor each client’s unique story and walk with them as they uncover their strength, reclaim their voice, and move toward lasting change. You don’t have to do this alone. I look forward to meeting you soon.

I hold a Clinical Psychologist license to practice in Illinois. I completed my doctorate studies at Adler University. My professional experience in treatment spans over 25 years. I believe a person holds the ability to transform their life for the better. I find satisfaction in helping them advance on their path. The following examples show my methods for treating anxiety and depression. The evidence-based treatment method I use for anxiety focuses on individualized symptom-specific approaches that match the client’s needs and personal preferences. The combination of repetitive and irrational thoughts about perceived danger, uncertainty or failure creates distressing mental states which may manifest as negative thought, such as: "I am not good enough" or "something bad will happen" or "I will be fired if I make a mistake." I assist my clients to detect and fight their negative beliefs and thoughts. I guide clients to manage their anxiety symptoms with mindfulness breathing techniques and progressive muscle relaxation methods. With assigned homework including mindfulness exercises, I guide the client to maintain their progress and self-regulation between sessions. My depression treatment approach matches each client's symptoms, their life history, and their social environment. Depression exists on a spectrum from temporary sadness to persistent and severe Major Depressive Disorder. The maintenance of depression relies on negative thoughts such as “I am worthless” or “Nothing will ever get better.” Our focus will be to identify and modify. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients view their depressive thoughts in a non-judgmental manner to reduce their rumination and emotional distress. By teaching problem solving skills and the practice of mindfulness helps the individual become more aware of their physical tension. Assigning homework guides the individual to improve sleep hygiene, self-care, and build effective coping strategies.

Hey, I’m Amber. I’m so glad you’re here! I know sometimes it can be pretty scary searching for a therapist who helps you feel known and understood. That is the kind of therapist I strive to be. Let me share a little about myself. I’ve been working in the mental health field for over 11 years now. I worked in community mental health for 10 1/2 of those years before deciding to branch into my own private practice. I am now licensed in Illinois and Missouri. I grew up in a very conservative and religious family, even attending seminary, so I do know those beliefs well. It took me until I was 25 to be brave enough to live my authentic self as a gay individual, knowing it would cost me most of my family and friends. It hasn't been easy, but it has been worth it. It is now my desire to be the support for you that I never had as you live your own truth and tell your own story.

Sometimes it feels like the actual apocalypse is just around the corner. We are bombarded with terrible headline after terrible headline. Inflation is making it harder to pay the bills, let alone have fun, or reach our dreams. With so much going on in the world, it’s no wonder that there are greater rates of anxiety and depression! In the midst of it all, you might be trying to figure out who you are, what you want from life, how to have that honest conversation with your friend, setting boundaries with a parent, whether to switch jobs, learning to be more comfortable in your skin, etc. It’s a lot to manage. I can help. I am a licensed psychologist and consider myself a generalist with a wide variety of clinical interests including issues related to family of origin, self esteem, identity development, issues related to oppression and marginalized identities, depression, anxiety, stress, and interpersonal relationships.

Hello, my name is Chelsea, and I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. I graduated in 2019 from Clarke University with my Master's of Social Work. I spent my undergraduate years shadowing and volunteering at a sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy center. I completed research in the areas of trauma, decision making, and intimate relationships. I completed a job shadow with a Victim Witness Coordinator, where I also conducted a year long research project on domestic violence in rural communities. During that time I completed an internship at a combined homeless shelter and food pantry. I then completed a secondary internship at a local community mental health center. I spent four years working at that same local community mental health center where I provided crisis services, individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. I was able to earn my license during that time. I transitioned into school based social work and provided case management and therapy services in the local school setting. I now have opened a private practice called Resiliency Counseling, which is an individualized practice focused on providing individual, couples, and family therapy services to help people who are wanting to improve their mental health in a safe, accepting, and trusting environment. I always strive to meet my patients where they are at in their mental health journey and tailor my approach to what they need. I approach therapy as a mix of processing, guidance, and challenging, in order to help a client identify, process, and reach their mental health goals.

Something brought you here. Maybe it is a specific problem that needs solving, or maybe it is a general sense that things could be better. Either way, reaching out takes courage, and you deserve to work with someone who takes that decision seriously. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief and various types of life transitions. My work is grounded in deep compassion, hope and the belief that every person has inherent worth. My approach is warm, direct, practical and tailored to what you need. For clients who desire it, I integrate Christian principles and faith-based perspectives into our sessions, offering a space where your spiritual journey can be interwoven into your healing and growth. I draw from psychodynamic and mindfulness-based approaches as well as from cognitive behavioral therapy. But honestly, the research is clear: the most important factor in therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. And that is what I seek to prioritize in my work with people. I believe in this work because I have seen what happens when people get the right support. It changes everything. Outside the office I am an outdoor enthusiast, a Bible nerd and a firm believer that rest is productive. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience, supporting people through various stages of life. I have worked in a variety of contexts over the course of my career including community mental health, corrections, private practice and the Veterans Administration. Anxiety & Sleeplessness Fear, insomnia, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we work towards increasing sleep time, decreasing panic or anxiety attacks or symptoms, fully understanding where overwhelming emotions stem from, and how to move towards being your best self. Relationships Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both partners and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship. Trauma and Healing Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger after post-traumatic events. We work together through these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

PS: For the Teach for America Corps member's, please be advised that I was employed at a Regional Office of Education for over 12 years in a clinical capacity . I worked with teachers, school administrators, students and parent groups. I understand school cultures, the geopolitical pressures and expectations that are often placed on the teaching profession to achieve academic outcomes.

Not sure if you could use some help navigating life's challenges? Let's talk about the kind of support I can provide you. Bock a session with me to see if we're a good fit and how we can help you have more peace. Unfortunately, I am unable to assist in completion for any formal type of documentation.

My name is Shavone Marie Williams-Moss, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I entered the field of social work largely because of my family background; I was raised by a single father while my mother struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues and could not perform her role as a parent. One day as an adult in my 20's, I saw my mother sitting on a bench on the main street in Kentucky. I welcomed her into my home only to discover she not only suffered from homelessness but bipolar disorder, major depression, and substance abuse. My mother lived with me for a year, after which she passed away. This situation made me wonder, what if, in her younger years, she would have met someone who was supportive, understanding, kind, selfless, and invested in helping her be the best version of her, she could be. It was then that I decided to enter the Social Work Field. I wanted to provide help to those who could not help themselves and aid to those in need.

Congratulations! You have taken the first steps in the journey to your goal(s). I am extremely grateful you are considering me to partner up with. I consider my relationships as instrumental in learning who I am. The relationships that most speak to who I am include being a spouse, father, brother, son, colleague, and friend. My grandparents are deceased. Through these relationships I have learned a great deal.
