Hello! I'm Kenya, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Illinois. I have over 10 years of post graduate experience and have worked with populations across the life span from ages 3-65+. I specialize in anxiety, depression and women's issues. I strive to provide a safe and empowering environment by utilizing a warm and non-judgmental approach, which allows individuals to learn functional and effective coping techniques to manage a variety of mental health symptoms.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our initial therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, establish trust, take a deep dive into your specific challenges, set goals, and lay the foundation for a successful therapeutic relationship. My therapy style is warm, open and direct.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with individuals with anxiety, depression and those facing women issues for the past 10+ years, I've developed a knack for helping you to identify the cause of your specific challenges as well as identifying effective coping skills and techniques that leads to positive change within your life

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I frequently utilize CBT within sessions. Identifying negative thought patterns helps one to uncover negative self-talk and other self-defeating behaviors. The realization that thoughts and feelings are connected to behaviors will often lead one to write a new, more positive narrative that contradicts the negative thought patterns/ behaviors.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-Centered Therapy is based on the belief that individuals have an innate capacity for self-healing and personal growth. I use this method to empowers clients to have control of the therapeutic process and take the lead in their healing. My role when utilizing this approach, is to support and encourage the client throughout the theraputic process.
