As a Licensed Psychotherapist, Author, and Educator, I bring 28 years of clinical expertise and 20 years of teaching experience to my practice. I firmly believe that successful therapy requires an eclectic, progressive, evidenced based psychotherapeutic approach coupled (when necessary) with a deep understanding of the healthcare system. When working with clients, I prioritize solution-oriented, effective symptom relief methods. Recognizing the complexity of individuals, I address psychological and emotional concerns within the broader context of family dynamics, self-perception, work-related stress, and physical health.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The initial session serves as an opportunity for both the client and myself to establish rapport and mutual understanding. I prioritize empathetic history-taking and addressing any questions the client may have. I recognize the uniqueness of each individual, and I tailor a personalized care plan that considers factors such as age, life experiences, environment, personal history, culture, physical health, and other relevant aspects. Most sessions are scheduled for an hour, though initial meetings may run slightly longer. For in-person sessions, I offer coffee, tea, water, and hot chocolate. For online sessions, I typically send a meeting link a few minutes before our scheduled time.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In my work with clients, I prioritize effective, solution-oriented approaches to alleviate symptoms. Understanding the intricacies of each individual, I address psychological and emotional challenges in the context of family dynamics, self-perception, work-related stress, and physical health. Collaboration with healthcare professionals—including doctors, school social workers, physical/occupational therapists, gerontologists, and other mental health specialists—is integral to my holistic treatment approach. My journey in psychology and clinical social work began early in life, and my passion for this field continues to grow daily. I am dedicated to ongoing learning through research and professional development courses. I am deeply grateful to my teachers, mentors, clients, and colleagues whose contributions have enriched my journey and professional development.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My experience spans various settings including Inpatient Psychotherapy, Intensive Outpatient Psychotherapy (IOP), Crisis Intervention, and Private Practice. I have been serving individuals, couples, and families as a clinical professional since 1995. I use evidence based therapy, and include Mindfulness, CBT, EMDR, and Meditation into my treatment. For the past two decades, I have also conducted Wellness, Clinical, and Peak Performance Seminars for medical staff, community organizations, and corporate groups. I have coached students, writers, corporate professionals, and healthcare providers in generating creativity, overcoming career burnout, and finding meaning in their selected career paths. Presently I see individuals (ages 14+), couple's and families in my office or via a telehealth option.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) effectively addresses a range of issues including anxiety, negative self-beliefs, intrusive thoughts, fears, self-regulation difficulties, anger management, and depression. Techniques such as cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy are integral to this evidence-based approach, which I incorporate into my integrative practice.

Eclectic

For over 27 years, I have employed various therapeutic approaches, such as Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) concepts, Mindfulness, Deep Relaxation techniques, multiple Meditation, the Family Systems model, and numerous tools for couple's counseling.

EMDR

With over 27 years of experience as a therapist, including 20 years specializing in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I have successfully utilized this effective psychotherapeutic technique to alleviate symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). EMDR is particularly beneficial in treating PTSD symptoms such as intrusive memories, flashbacks, and difficulties with life decisions stemming from traumatic experiences. Its systematic approach facilitates the processing and resolution of trauma, empowering individuals to achieve healing and resilience.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based psychotherapy integrates mindfulness techniques, such as meditation and breathing exercises, with traditional therapy to help individuals manage emotions and respond thoughtfully. By focusing on the present moment without judgment, mindfulness fosters awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations, enhancing emotional regulation. Over the past 25 years, I have researched meditation and mindfulness practices from cultures worldwide, incorporating diverse traditions into my approach. This global perspective allows for personalized strategies that resonate deeply with individuals. Mindfulness-based therapies like MBCT and DBT help reduce emotional reactivity, fostering resilience, balance, and clarity to navigate life’s emotional challenges with greater confidence.

Grief Therapy

I have extensive experience working with clients suffering from grief, including prolonged and complicated grief. Using a variety of therapeutic modalities, I help clients navigate the stages of grief in a way that honors their unique journey. My approach emphasizes compassion, emotional processing, and resilience-building, guiding individuals toward acceptance and healing. By creating a safe and supportive environment, I empower clients to find meaning, rebuild their lives, and move forward while cherishing their memories.
