Hi, I’m Leon. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or looking to better understand yourself, therapy can be a helpful place to start making meaningful changes.
I’m a social worker who has been working as a therapist since 2018, with experience in both hospital and outpatient settings. I take a collaborative, partnership-based approach to therapy, working alongside you to identify what’s getting in the way and how to move forward.
I’m passionate about providing thoughtful, high-quality care. By maintaining a smaller caseload in my private practice, I’m able to give each client the attention and support they deserve. My goal is to help you gain insight, build practical tools, and create lasting change in your life.
I have over 23 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, children, and families. I specialize in the assessment and treatment of Substance Abuse Disorders, Trauma, PTSD, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, ADHD, Behavioral difficulties and emotional regulation. I am trained in a variety of different models including CBT//DBT /CPT Person Centered Approaches, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Tf-CBT.
I work with clients of all ages, as well as professional adults and military service members. I enjoy thinking "outside of the box", and implement that in my sessions. I enjoy thinking of creative approaches and utilizing a variety of different skills to help my clients. My goal is to assist the client, you, in developing healthy coping skills, while building a strong therapeutic relationship. I have worked with people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, male, female, non-binary, various sexual orientations, young and old, and I have always taken the approach that each person is unique; their issues are real, and I want to not only help them, but truly hear them and their stories.
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker with over 14 years of experience working as a clinician, therapist , and crisis interventionist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance use problems, psychosis, and ADHD. I also helped people who have experienced trauma and/or emotional abuse.
I would like to clarify my expertise does not include eating disorders, or pornography addiction, although I do understand some of the symptoms and causes.
My therapy style is genuine and solution focused.. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach is dialectical behavioral based with strengths perspective and motivational interviewing. Any treatment plan to meet your needs will be collaborative, timely, and with measurable goals. Usually following the "S.M.A.R.T." goal format. Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely.
I have worked extensively in crisis intervention in the agency and on the streets, in hospitals, and in mental health courts and case management agencies, and have managed in this capacity. I also have many years experience related to substance use disorders and have worked as a therapist utilizing primarily Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as my main approach as well as utilizing Cognitive Behavior Therapy . These tools can be modified in a number of ways to help clients achieve their goals .
Regardless of any experience, upbringing, current, or past situation, everyone has choices they can make that best serves them and the life they want to live.
I look forward to working with you!

I’m a therapist who believes meaningful change comes from a combination of insight, accountability, and consistent action. My work is shaped not only by clinical training, but by a grounded understanding of adversity, resilience, and what it takes to rebuild and move forward.
I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns—whether related to trauma, stress, relationships, or major life transitions—and are ready to create something more stable and intentional. Many of my clients are navigating challenges such as emotional reactivity, impulsive behaviors, or difficulty maintaining consistency in their lives.
My approach is direct, practical, and focused on helping you develop the tools needed for real, lasting change. I use evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to support emotional regulation, stronger decision-making, and long-term growth.
I have a particular interest in working with individuals navigating recovery, reentry, and significant life rebuilding, while remaining open to anyone seeking clarity, stability, and a more grounded way of living.
I’ve always been interested in understanding people — how life experiences, relationships, stress, and challenges shape the way we cope and move through the world. Over time, I realized I found a lot of meaning in helping people work through obstacles, gain perspective, and feel less stuck in the things weighing them down. I know it can be hard to ask for support, especially when you’ve been trying to manage everything on your own. I want clients to feel comfortable being honest about what they’re facing while also working together to find practical, concrete solutions that help life feel more manageable and move them toward meaningful, lasting change.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and my Master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical focus from Capella University. Over the past 14 years, I have worked with children, teens, adults, couples, and families across in-home, outpatient, and telehealth settings. I’ve supported people through some of the most difficult periods of their lives, including severe anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, family conflict, crisis situations, and overwhelming life stress. Working in a variety of settings and with diverse client needs has taught me how to meet people where they are, adapt to challenging situations, and help clients find realistic ways to move forward.
I see therapy as a place to be real about what’s not working and figure out what needs to change. Some clients come in feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected in relationships, overwhelmed by responsibilities, or frustrated by patterns they can’t seem to break. My role is to help people make sense of what they’re experiencing, develop practical tools that actually fit their lives, and regain a stronger sense of control, stability, and confidence moving forward.
I am a person who has dealt with many hardships which has made me what I want others to be, not just a surviver but a person who fights to thrive. What has led me to social work has been experiencing tough times and recognizing that I could be some of the change and support I felt I needed during the times I felt I had no one.
I have over 2 decades of experience working with adults, seniors, families, and couples. As a member of the LGBTQ community who is in a bi-racial relationship with 2 kids, I have first hand knowledge of the needs of the community. I take a holistic approach working with clients and help people become the best version of themselves. Every client is different and I work with each person to come up with a plan that works for them.I
There are lots of ups and downs in life… twists… and turns. Some people choose to navigate difficulties alone. However, you are likely reading this because you are tired of doing it all by yourself. You’re thinking about a little help and support. Reaching for help is a wise thing. It is a sign of health that I value deeply.
I am Jim Hughes. I have over 30 years of experience as a Specialty Clinician. I'm a former faculty member of the UMASS STRESS REDUCTION CLINIC that was featured on Bill Moyers' Healing and the Mind. I got my start working with Children at a crisis shelter, Casa De los Ninos, and in the trenches at The Arizona Children’s Home in Tucson Arizona. Moved by the profound transformations I witnessed, I moved east and attended graduate school as I worked at Wellspring, a long-term therapeutic community in Bethlehem Connecticut with mentor Richard Beauvais. Upon graduation, I worked for the renowned UMASS STRESS REDUCTION CLINIC with Jon Kabat-Zinn teaching meditation and stress reduction in the hospital.
In all my endeavors, mindfulness-based stress reduction is the key ingredient to help heal through difficult emotional and medical issues, challenging adult relationships, intimacy issues, anxiety, depression, and internet and pornography addiction.
In addition, I am particularly interested in helping people with chronic stress and anxiety and medical problems such as panic attacks, stress, anxiety, heart disease, hypertension, A1C issues, diabetes, chronic pain, cancer and other medical issues.
