While I am a therapist first, I am a social worker second, and am passionate about addressing the ways trauma impacts not just individuals, but society as a whole. Outside of being a therapist and social worker, I also take care of my rescue kitty, Squish. When she is not hiding my art supplies, I most enjoy creating mixed media art while perfecting my latest playlist. I also most enjoy time spent with close family and friends, engaged in fun, comedic banter.

Hello! Congratulations on taking this step toward living a happier and more meaningful life! It takes courage! I received a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1999 at Auburn University in Alabama and have been providing care since then. I've worked as a full-time clinician, mentored and provided clinical supervision to new professionals and also oversaw a community behavioral health center for more than a decade as the clinical director. Most recently, I provided military and family life counseling at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson before opening a full-time private practice. An important goal of mine is to help you feel comfortable and confident that counseling is a safe place. I operate from a position of compassion and empathy. Together we will work through the issues you're struggling with. I do not take the stance that I'm the expert on your life but instead will guide you through the change process at your own pace and readiness.

Since 2012, I have worked with a variety of clients dealing with circumstances that are unique to their lives. Life can be complicated and having someone in your corner can ease fears and worries while allowing for growth and healing. My passion as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor is working with individuals and couples who have experienced trauma and difficult times. As a wife, mom, grandmother, and dog mom, I also enjoy assisting family and friends in reaching their goals. I will be here to encourage you, support you and validate you. I know making the decision to come to therapy can be difficult, scary and leave you feeling vulnerable but taking that first step is the key to unlocking the door towards becoming your best self. You are the true expert of yourself and often just need additional encouragement to identify and explore areas that are no longer working.  Vulnerability, shame, and guilt can prevent you from seeking the help and support you need to find solace in your head, heart and life. I am a daughter of Veteran and wife of a fire fighter. I know personally the stigmas and stressors that come along with seeking treatment. I have a deep understanding and love of the firefighting, EMT, and paramedic communities. Break those chains that keep you from seeking, happiness, forgiveness, healing, and serenity. One of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Having a good grasp of the very real issues with which first responders must face and handle on a daily basis I will help you navigate the issues and memories that haunt you and find real, lasting solutions for long term healing. I promise I won't bite, but I am a loud Bostonian haha!  Allow me to walk and guide you on your path to uncovering and rediscovering who you are and what you already know but struggling to see.

Before I worked as a counselor I worked as a technical writer and software tester, and then as a caseworker in social services. I have also been a studio engineer with much work in audio and video editing and got to spend a year on the film festival circuit for a documentary I made about being an independent musician. All of those experiences I feel are helpful in working with clients from different backgrounds and perhaps in understanding that most of us want to find something meaningful in this life and often feel that we still don't know what our real calling.

Hi, my name is Mark. Thank you for considering me as your therapist. It would be my pleasure to get to work with you! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist; that means that not only do I work with individuals who experience all kinds of mental health challenges, but I also specialize in systemic, or relational therapy - working with couples, families & groups. I am a Presidential Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. If you want your faith included in your therapy, please let me know; your sessions will be as "spiritual" as you'd like, and no more. I have been providing therapy and counseling since 2016, and most recently worked as the therapy manager for a clinic that has four locations. Though I have worked with all populations (youngest 5 years old and oldest 94), young kids have trouble sitting still in front of a camera. Children under the age of 15 would be better served in an office setting, in my opinion. I have been with my amazing wife for over 35 years now, and have two wonderful adult children. I enjoy sports, music and all kinds of "outdoorzie" stuff. I most of all just enjoy time with my family. Most of my clients profess to sincerely enjoy working with me; I tend to connect with my clients on a deeper level, and in a more meaningful way, than some other therapists. Many say that they or their children work better with me than any other therapist, counselor or doctor they've experienced. I am humbled and immensely grateful for their kind words. I offer my clients a soft place to fall in their hurts and struggles while providing them a firm place to stand in their healing and growth. Always, in a judgment-free way.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in depression, quick to anger, or frustrated in your relationships — you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with feel like something just isn’t working, but they can’t quite explain why. Often, these struggles come from early experiences where emotions were ignored, dismissed, or too much for the adults around us to handle. As children, we learn fast: if expressing emotions doesn’t feel safe or accepted, we push them down. Over time, that emotional disconnection can turn into anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, or anger that feels hard to control. My work focuses on helping you understand where these patterns come from and how to shift them. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety that won’t quiet down, depression that feels heavy, anger that shows up too fast, or relationship challenges that keep repeating — we’ll work together to untangle the deeper story and build healthier ways of coping, connecting, and feeling. This isn’t just about managing symptoms — it’s about helping you reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been shut down for too long.

With over 20 years of clinical experience, I have dedicated my career to walking alongside individuals through their healing and growth journeys, beginning as a child and adolescent therapist before expanding my practice to work with adolescents and adults. My approach is grounded in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and my training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, always adapted to honor each client's unique story and strengths. I believe deeply in advocacy; both as something I practice on behalf of my clients and as a critical skill I help them develop for themselves, because sustainable wellness requires individuals to have the tools, voice, and confidence to advocate for their own needs. Meet Mike Arieta, LICSW Hello and welcome. I’m Mike Arieta, a licensed clinical social worker with nearly three decades of experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and teens through life’s most complex challenges. Since 1995, I’ve worked across diverse settings—from foster care and homelessness to adoption and refugee support—and have been practicing clinically since 2011. My therapeutic approach is body-based and trauma-informed. I believe our bodies often speak before our minds can make sense of what we’re feeling. This philosophy guides my work with clients navigating trauma, PTSD, and transitions that require deep emotional resilience. I integrate movement-based and somatic strategies to help clients reconnect with themselves and their communities. Currently, I’m completing my Doctor of Social Work degree at Tulane University, where my research focuses on trauma recovery and evidence-informed practices that foster healing. I also hold advanced training in adoption competence and provide support to foster youth, adoptive families, and caregivers navigating complex systems. Therapy, for me, is a collaborative journey. I’m honored to walk alongside my clients as they reclaim their stories, build strength, and move toward meaningful change. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my work—I look forward to connecting with you.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience helping people navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, and identity questions. My style blends depth-oriented therapy — exploring the deeper patterns and stories that shape you — with practical, evidence-based tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I spent nine years on the Boulder Crisis Team, providing psychiatric evaluations in ERs, jails, and walk-in clinics, which taught me how to stay calm and effective in moments of distress. I am an LPC with a PhD in psychology from Walden University. I have been counseling for almost 20 years. Before that, I was a teacher working with students with emotional concerns and their families. I know that it can be very difficult to take the first step to seek counseling. My intent the moment you “walk through the door” is for you to feel safe, cared for, listened to, and above all, understood. I am not here to judge or condemn. We all have our stuff. Life gets messy. Life can be complicated. I grew up in a Christian family riddled with dysfunction; alcoholism, addiction, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, suicidal ideation, and chronic medical issues. I have also worked in the educational sector with children with behavior issues, ADHD, ODD, OCD, attachment disorder, autism, as well as anxiety and depression. I am a people person. I am empathetic, I listen, I am real, and I can help.

I still love what I do after 26 years. I have extensive experience in Christian Counseling, Addiction, PTSD, Trauma, Sex-Offenders, and Obsessive-Compulsive behaviors. I currently am NOT providing therapy for couples or families. I have worked with a variety of clients ranging from ages 7 to 89, but am currently only working with adults. I am independently licensed in 3 different states as a Marriage and Family Therapist and independently licensed in 1 state as an Addiction Counselor. I believe everyone has a "gift," something that they are called to do, and Counseling is mine. I care about my clients and have the innate ability to "zone" in on what is going on with them. I use Emotional Focus Therapy, Strength-Based, Trauma-Informed, Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but it really depends on the clients I am seeing. I admire anyone who wants to make a change and is willing to reach out and ask for help. I am here for you if you are that person. **** It's very important to remember to provide a 24-hour notice or a minimum of 2 hours (if an emergency comes up) notice if you are not going to make your session, so that you are not charged a no-show fee. ****** I am only accepting individual clients at this time. Although the appointment planner may allow it, please do not schedule appointments more than 2 weeks out. My later times are limited and I would like all my clients to have a chance to one of these slots, plus it cuts back on no-shows since we do not know if we will be able to make an appointment that far in advance. Thank you for your understanding.

I am a therapist who specializes in Addiction Recovery, Anxiety and Depressive Disorders. I prefer a Biopsychosocial approach to therapy. I recognize that past trauma, maladaptive thought patterns and environment contribute greatly to how we perceive others and how we "show up" in the world. My job is to challenge thought patterns and support growth while clients empower themselves to make change and develop strategies to improve circumstances.
