A little about me, I'm Shaunté owner of Thrive Health LLC. I'm a first-born Leo through and through, direct, warm, and not afraid to be a little bold. I've spent over a decade in community mental health here in Arizona. Everything I do is grounded in a trauma-informed lens, because I believe the things that trip us up usually aren't flaws, they're protections that made sense once, even if they don't anymore. My style is collaborative and goal-focused: this is your life we're working toward, and I'm here to help you get there.
Your first session is really just a conversation, no pressure to have everything figured out or say it perfectly. We'll talk through what's bringing you in, what's felt hard lately, and what you're hoping might feel different. I'll ask questions to get a fuller picture of your story and what patterns or reactions you've been noticing, and you'll get a feel for how I work: direct, warm, and collaborative. By the end, we'll start shaping what working together could look like, at a pace that feels right for you. There's no script to follow here, just space to be honest about where you're at.
What I bring to the room is honesty balanced with warmth. I won't just nod along, I'll offer direct feedback when it's useful, while still holding space for you to feel heard and understood. Over a decade in community mental health has given me a wide range of experience, so I'm comfortable meeting people wherever they're starting from, whatever they're carrying. What sets me apart is how I combine that directness with a trauma-informed lens: I don't just help you manage symptoms; I help you understand why your reactions happen in the first place, so the change actually sticks. Using both DBT and EMDR gives me range other therapists may not have, practical, in-the-moment skills alongside deeper processing work, so we can meet whatever you're bringing in from more than one angle. And because I've spent years in community mental health, I've sat with people through a lot, which means very little rattles me. You can bring the messy, complicated, hard-to-say-out-loud stuff here.
You're dealing with emotions that feel bigger than the moment calls for, snapping, shutting down, or feeling completely flooded, and afterward you're left confused or even a little ashamed. Maybe you keep landing in the same relationship patterns, the same conflicts, the same distance, the same trouble trusting people, even when you try to do things differently. There's a good chance something underneath it all, old pain or old protections, is still running the show, even if you can't quite put your finger on why. You're tired of just managing symptoms. You want to understand what's actually driving them. You're willing to look inward, even when it's uncomfortable, and you'd rather hear the honest truth than what feels good in the moment. You don't need to have it all figured out to start, you're just ready to stop white-knuckling through hard moments and do the deeper work, whether that looks like practical tools, slower reflective processing, or both. If you're nodding along, here's what's possible: responding instead of reacting. Relationships that feel steadier and less exhausting. Actually understanding the "why" behind your patterns, so you can shift them instead of just coping with them. Not just getting by, but a life that reflects who you really are, not the reactions and old protections still running underneath it.

Shaunte is the best therapist I’ve ever had. She challenges me and helps me see other perspectives besides my own. She creates a safe space and makes me feel heard and validated.
