Hello! I am a trauma informed mental health therapist and have been practicing for over 30 years. I received my Master's degree in clinical social work from Arizona State University. I have worked significantly with issues of child abuse, domestic violence, trauma. child loss, grief, anxiety and depression. I work with adults, teens, and children age 5 and up. I have provided counseling services to individuals, groups, couples, and families. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families address unresolved trauma, life transitions and stressors, to achieve wellness in their lives. Throughout my journey some of my greatest inspiration and insights have come through my relationship with my husband of over 25 years and our 4 amazing children.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session I will work to provide a safe, comfortable place for individuals to discuss their lives and their struggles. I focus on building a trusting partnership (therapeutic relationship) with my client. We will spend time discussing their history and therapeutic goals. I want my client to feel that he/she/they can be heard. I also want my client to believe that, through an appropriate therapeutic process, there is much hope for the achievement of positive change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a mental health therapist, my greatest strengths include empathetic listening, creating a non-judgmental space, and tailoring therapeutic approaches to individual needs. I strive for cultural sensitivity, foster collaborative relationships with clients, and continuously integrate new insights to enhance the effectiveness of my practice. I genuinely care about the well-being of others. I strive to demonstrate compassion, warmth, and dedication to supporting others in their journey towards healing and personal growth.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

In taking an eclectic approach in therapy I believe in integrating techniques and theories from various therapeutic modalities to best meet the needs of individual clients. Rather than adhering strictly to one theoretical orientation, as an eclectic therapist I draw upon a range of interventions and perspectives to tailor treatment to each client's unique circumstances. I use a client centered approach and several therapy models, depending on your needs. I create a safe, accepting, and trusting relationship with my clients to allow for change and growth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

While I believe in integrating techniques and theories from various therapeutic modalities to best meet the needs of individual clients, I frequently utilize techniques grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, exploring with my clients the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This approach recognizes how our thoughts influence our feelings and behaviors, and that by changing our thought patterns, we can change how we feel and behave. I work with clients who may be experiencing irrational or distressing thoughts/emotions and help them identify positive coping skills, expand support systems, replace negative thoughts and/or behaviors to help them better manage and decrease their symptoms.

EMDR

EMDR is a great modality to help individuals become "unstuck" when they experience a plateau in therapy. While EMDR therapy has a primary purpose to help people heal from the effects of trauma, it can also help with panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, and social anxiety. This is one of my favorite modalities to use because of its effectiveness and flexibility.

Trauma Informed Care

I have spent the majority of my post graduate continuing education training focusing on trauma treatment. I have been trained in EMDR and have completed some additional trauma certification programs that have helped me to gain understanding of the impact that trauma has on the brain and body. This enables me to assist clients in addressing trauma from a whole body approach. I work to address limiting beliefs, help clients connect brain to body, and learn to regulate their nervous system through an integrated trauma informed approach.
