Chiungwen Ku
Hello, my name is Chiungwen Ku. Are you struggling with feelings of being overwhelmed, depression, anxiety, inferiority, or loneliness? Have you experienced troubles keeping up with your day, work, relationships, or health? I will help you learn more about your mental health and how to make a difference! Together, let’s figure out what’s working for you. I use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) approaches in most of my interactions, but I generally integrate ideas and strategies from several therapy models depending on your needs and circumstances. Whether you are dealing with relationship issues, managing problematic emotions, thoughts, or behaviors, improving self-esteem, finding motivation to do things, having intergenerational or cross-cultural challenges, or unresolved issues from the past, you are not alone. I am here to work with you in turning those life challenging experiences into opportunities of learning and growth.
First session
The first therapy session can be stressful as it is filled with questions and information for you and I to get to know each other, and to see if we are a good fit. It’s important for you to feel comfortable with me in order to provide the specialized care and support you desired. We will also discuss your goals regarding what you want to get out of therapy. Therapy can be intense, fascinating, or a relief. I will create a supportive, trusting, and non-judgmental environment for you to feel safe and empowered in the process.
Strengths
My biggest strength as a mental health counselor is my ability to listen, empathize, identify and promote strengths and hope in my clients. I believe in providing psychoeducation, building rapport, and introducing coping skills to help my clients cope and take control of their mental health.
