My name is Brenda Cabrera and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Inglewood, California and working with clients statewide via telehealth services. I received my Masters from New York University and have experience providing therapy in Community, Outpatient, and Higher Levels of Care settings. I take a collaborative approach to establish goals that meet the individual's unique needs and honor their voice in treatment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

To start, we’ll spend some time getting to know each other better. I’m interested in understanding your background, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. We’ll talk about what you can expect from our sessions to ensure you feel safe and supported. Feel free to ask any questions you might have—this is your space, and I want you to feel comfortable and informed. I’m here to support you, and I’m looking forward to starting this journey together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My communication style is calm, compassionate, and personable. I aim to create a space where my clients can focus on their vulnerabilities without judgment.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults navigating Anxiety, Coping Skills, Depression, Borderline Personality (BPD), LGBTQ+, Life Coaching, Life Transitions, Peer Relationships, Relationship Issues, Self-esteem, Stress, Trauma, and PTSD.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through CBT, we will explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to identify patterns and develop practical skills for growth.

Compassion Focused

Compassion-Focused interventions has helped my client's in addressing that inner critical voice by cultivating self-compassion, strengthen emotional resiliency, and develop tools to navigate life's challenges with greater ease.

EMDR

I utilized EMDR to support my client's in processing difficult memories and experiences, reducing their emotional intensity and fostering healing.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

My experience with DBT allows me to provide structured sessions and teach my client's ways to manage intense emotions, build healthy relationships, and navigate life challenges.
