Brooke Kahly
Hi, I’m Brooke Kahly, a licensed clinical social worker with 10 years of experience supporting adults through anxiety, depression, and life changes. I’m dedicated to providing a safe and non-judgmental space where you can be your authentic self. I’ll meet you wherever you are in your journey and work with you at a pace that feels right. Together, we’ll explore your unique experiences and strengths, tailoring therapy to fit your goals. My approach combines compassion with practical tools, helping you build resilience and create lasting, positive change.
First session
In your first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and what goals you’d like to work toward. This is also a chance for you to ask questions about the therapy process and share any concerns you might have. Together, we’ll begin to build a comfortable, trusting space where you feel safe to explore your experiences. The first session is all about setting the foundation for our work together and creating a plan that fits your unique needs.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is the genuine compassion I bring to each session. I practice active listening to ensure you feel truly heard, safe, and supported throughout your journey. I understand that opening up can feel vulnerable, so I honor your courage and celebrate every step you take toward healing. What sets me apart is my ability to balance warmth with honesty; whether you need someone to cheer you on or be direct and straightforward, I’ll tailor our work together to fit your unique needs. Therapy with me is a true partnership. I am fully committed and expect the same engagement from you. I’m flexible and adapt our work as your goals evolve, ensuring therapy always feels relevant and personalized. My goal is to create a space where you feel empowered, understood, and motivated to make meaningful change.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to engage in the therapeutic process and willing to actively participate in their growth. It’s important to me that you feel safe and supported to openly share any concerns or feedback, especially if something isn’t resonating or working for you. Sharing what has helped you in the past can also be valuable as we begin our work together. I ask that you come to sessions prepared and ready to engage, as I understand how valuable your time is. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling that we have accomplished meaningful progress. While I provide a supportive and non-judgmental space, meaningful change requires effort and commitment from you as well. Therapy is a collaborative journey and I am here to guide and support you, but the work you put in directly influences the outcomes we achieve together.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In our work together, I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. We’ll work on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and building practical skills so you can manage stress and emotions more effectively in your daily life.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I often bring in tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you become more present and flexible in how you respond to life’s challenges. Together, we’ll focus on what really matters to you and practice ways to handle difficult thoughts and feelings without getting stuck in them.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
If you’ve experienced trauma, I may use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help you work through those experiences. We’ll explore how your beliefs about the trauma may be affecting you now, and work together to shift unhelpful patterns so you can move forward with greater clarity and ease.
Compassion-Focused
In all of my work, I strive to create a space that is grounded in compassion. I believe that healing happens when you feel safe, seen, and supported without judgment. Together, we’ll approach challenges with curiosity and kindness, working at a pace that feels right for you.
Positive Psychology
I also draw from positive psychology, which means I like to focus not just on challenges but also on your strengths and what’s going well in your life. Together, we’ll explore your personal resources and talents, helping you build resilience to bounce back from difficult times. My goal is to support you in creating a deeper sense of meaning, fulfillment, and joy as you move forward.
