Hi! First, I want to thank you for visiting my page and giving me an opportunity to see how my therapeutic style can assist you with reducing your distress and increasing your life satisfaction. I am so honored that you have decided to review my profile and see if I am a good fit for your journey. I have been working as a therapist with a variety of mental health disorders and systemic family dynamics since 2015. I initially pursued a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and decided that was an unfulfilling career direction for me. Upon deciding to pursue a master’s degree, I decided to pursue the MFT field. Becoming and MFT was the career goal I had as a teenager, so you could say that pursuing the field is a lifelong dream come true. My methods of therapy are person led. I like to provide space, and safety to assist you with addressing the reason or reasons that you made the brave choice to pursue therapy. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy also known as DBT. It is a gentle, an evidenced based method that uses mindfulness and increasing internal coping mechanisms to assist with achieving therapeutic goals. Additionally, I also can utilize a technique called Brainspotting to assist people with reducing trauma that is deep and difficult to resolve through traditional talk therapy. The pace at which we go and move through therapy is up to you. I am LGBTQ+ affirming therapist. I work with clients who are questioning, in their transition process, as well as those who are working on their mental health unrelated to their sexual and gender orientation. If necessary, I can consult with you if you need me to provide gender affirming letters when required for insurance and surgical and hormonal procedures. I really appreciate the time that you took to read through all this information, and I hope that it helps you make an informed decision.
In our first session together, we will start with introductions. I will let you know what to expect from therapy, what to expect from starting treatment. The initial session is an opportunity for me to understand your story, but brought you to therapy, and what challenges you faced to get to this point to seek out treatment. It will give me an opportunity to provide you with a personally tailored treatment plan that I create based upon our meeting and to review what I believe would be good goals to keep in mind while we work together.
I enjoy working with mood disorders, especially anxiety that is associated with generalized anxiety in addition to depression and its related anxiety. DBT is a wonderful method to assist with increasing mechanisms for calming and coping with distress. I would use the techniques of DBT in therapy with you would be to practice skills we build together, be a space for you to increase comfort with vulnerability and decrease the intensity that vulnerability can impact you negatively. I would also assign homework at times to work on your mental health between sessions. If my client would like to use Brainspotting in their treatment, we can integrate Brainspotting techniques into therapy.
I work primarily with adults, 18+, trauma, mood disorders, family issues, divorce, I have extensive training in grief and work well with people who experience loss.
In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy also known as DBT. I have primarily been using it for the entirety of my therapeutic practice. While working with clients I have seen that somatic and nervous system experiences impact our emotion regulation. DBT interventions and treatment are known through peer reviewed research and evidence-based practices to have a significant reduction on the nervous system and its reactivity that has been built up over the lifetime. This practice is helpful in reducing intensity of uncomfortable nervous system responses that cause depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, panic attacks and other symptoms of mental health disorders.
I am trained in using Brainspotting techniques to assist with reducing intensity, frequency and duration of distressing symptoms. This treatment blends nicely with DBT interventions because of its attention to the nervous system. Brainspotting is a method that helps with reducing symptoms that talk therapy is unable to touch. Oftentimes unless this treatment is sought out by an individual, it is included in treatment when symptoms aren't reducing through practice of relaxation and somatic training.
