New to Grow
I'm a trauma-focused psychologist working with teens and adults (13-65), specializing in helping clients move through overwhelming experiences and feel more in control of their lives. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). My internship and postdoctoral training were spent at UC Davis Children's Hospital, where I developed an expertise in treating trauma across ages and levels of need. My approach is warm, supportive, and approachable. I strive to create a therapeutic setting where you feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I also want to help you build practical tools to manage symptoms and make progress toward mutually established goals. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, emotional challenges, or PTSD, I am here to help you feel better and move toward healing.
In our first session, we will focus on getting to know one another and helping you feel comfortable in the therapy space. I will talk to you about what therapy will look like, answer any questions you may have, and learn more about what is bringing you into therapy. We will also discuss what you would like to get out of our time together and establish treatment goals that feel collaborative and achievable. You won't be expected to share everything right away! We can go at a pace that feels safe and right for you. By the end of the session, my hope is that you will understand the therapeutic process, get a sense of whether we're a good fit, and plan for the next steps.
My greatest strength as a psychologist is my ability to provide a nonjudgmental, supportive space where clients feel safe enough to share their most painful experiences. I specialize in trauma treatment and bring expertise in TF-CBT, CPT, and CBT. These allow me to support clients through some of their toughest times while working through PTSD, grief, and complex trauma. I combine a relational approach with evidence-based practices, which helps clients feel empowered and understood as they work on healing. I am collaborative, attentive, adaptable, and strive to meet each person where they are. In this manner, I am able to support meaningful change and growth in my clients.
I specialize in trauma treatment for teens and adults (13-65) and I am certified in TF-CBT and CPT, two highly effective, evidence-based treatment. I also work with individuals who have depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and personality-related concerns. My style is collaborative, supportive, and focused. I work best with clients that are ready to actively participate in therapy, are interested in learning practical skills, are motivated to see lasting results, and are open to direction and structure.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to help clients work through how trauma has impacted the way they think about the world, others, and themselves. In my experience, CPT is a treatment that helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs related to shame, trust, safety, and guilt, which are all common feelings that individuals with PTSD may feel. In our work together, I will guide you through a structured process with the aim of helping you understand your thoughts by learning how to challenge and reframe them. This helps to reduce intense emotions that understandably arise following a traumatic experience. Clients often feel empowered by this treatment in that they feel more in control of their thinking and are able to find a path forward. *I am a rostered provider for CPT.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I use Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to support teens and adults in safely processing traumatic experiences while building effective coping skills. I have used this approach to help many clients manage anxiety, emotional distress, avoidance, and ongoing symptoms of PTSD. In therapy, we will focus on building skills first, such as relaxation skills, emotional regulation, and coping strategies before working through the trauma. We will work through trauma at a pace that feels manageable for you. My entire goal is to give you effective tools and to make you feel supported throughout the treatment. My goal is to help you feel less reactive to triggers, more equipped to handle difficult emotions and thoughts, and more hopeful and confident. *I am a certified provider for TF-CBT.
