Elizabeth W. Hutson
Hello and thank you for having the courage to obtain support. Life can bring many unexpected challenges including grief and loss. Others are dealing with childhood trauma and/or adult trauma that impacts their current relationships. Sometimes we try to cope with these challenges on our own or deny that they have even occurred.
Including but not limited to art therapy, CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety, Psychodynamics, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, Family Systems, Depth psychology and CBT-E for eating disorders.
It can be helpful to have someone guide us through these personal challenges with empathy, support, kindness, and wisdom. The therapy I provide is supportive, and affirming, and facilitates healing, through compassionate care. I use an eclectic combination of therapeutic techniques including attachment-based therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family systems, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic modalities coupled with expressive arts therapy. I tailor the treatment to meet your needs, personality, and experiences. Oftentimes it helps just to have a good listener to acknowledge your pain, process thoughts and feelings, and teach coping strategies, and emotional regulation to help find meaning in your life experiences. Developing new tools helps individuals to engage in healthier, balanced, and happier lives. If you are seeking support, I will actively work with you to help you reach your goals spiritually, emotionally and relationally.
First session
In our first session, you can expect an assessment of your strengths, challenges, and treatment needs. I also discuss how I work, which varies by the client's mental health and personality needs. I discuss the treatment approach I might use and discuss this with the client to ascertain if it is agreeable to them.
Strengths
My strengths include working with adolescents and adults with PTSD, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I have worked extensively with diverse adults, families, and adolescents with LGBTQ questioning and gender dysphoria. I specialize in trauma treatment including childhood trauma, and sexual trauma. In addition, I have experience successfully treating eating disordered behaviors, and substance and alcohol abuse.
Ideal clients
I have an extensive history working with teenagers 13-19. I also have experience and enjoy working with young adults and adults with severe mental health issues, substance abuse, eating disorders, and trauma.
