Hi my name is Kristin and I am ready to collaborate with you to make a tailored approach to reach your goals. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a registered art therapist. I utilize various therapy techniques and approaches, that most resonate with you to help facilitate change and to assist in healthier living. I have had the pleasure of working in a wide array of settings, and happy to continue to help both neurotypical and neurodivergent clients. I like to build rapport and cultivate an authentic connection while creating a safe and comfortable space for my clients to explore, promote growth, and facilitate change. I believe we are an accumulation of diverse experiences and life stories. Life has unexpected transitions, disappointments, and personal traumas that can greatly impact how we feel and experience the world. You don’t have to navigate it on your own. Let me help you build on your strengths and learn to identify and build new coping strategies. I hope to inspire your curiosity and courage to develop and practice healthy alternatives to enhance mental, emotional, and physical wellness. This is your time, let's make the most of it.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

A meet and greet. I am intentional with our time and build rapport with you to really get to know you and understand your needs. We will define the problem(s) from your point of view. We will collaborate and create an action plan, and set measurable achievable goals that you are comfortable and excited to work on. My holistic approach creates a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore and freely express your thoughts and feelings. Progress is the goal; therefore, I do expect you to be actively involved and have a desire and will to change. Therapy is worth it.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a passion for helping others. My clients have told me that they appreciate their time spent in our sessions. They have given me feedback that I help them to feel safe and comfortable. I enjoy adding creativity into the session and some humor when appropriate. Every client is unique and I adapt my approach to meet those needs. I use active listening to understand the current stressors that my client presents and offer meaningful feedback and solutions. I know when to be direct/straightforward to help you grow and move towards your goals. I want to collaborate with you to develop a plan that works best for you. I bring my perspective and include actionable items we can work towards to help you reach your goals. We can always adjust as we go as well.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In therapy, we explore your beliefs and how that may affect one's thinking and behavior. Challenging and changing cognitive distortions, improving emotional regulation and helping my clients build a toolbox of healthy coping skills is a large focus in my practice.

Eclectic

My approach to therapy depends on you as an individual. After years of training and experience as a therapist, I have learned to trust my instincts and intuition regarding assisting you and supporting you on your road to healing and growth. I am eclectic in my approach drawing from various therapeutic orientations. Generally, I like to approach therapy from a humanistic, strength-based, interpersonal perspective. I believe in the strength of the therapeutic relationship to create lasting and meaningful change.

Strength-Based

It is within our nature to focus on our weaknesses, faults, and failures, and we actually lose focus on what else is true about ourselves. But the truth is, that there are more strengths and more positives in our lives. By taking a straight-based approach, we have the opportunity to rediscover our strengths and abilities; overall, increasing your confidence, motivation, and well-being.

Trauma Informed Care

When trauma exists in your past that continues to show up in your present, we can explore ways to improve your functioning while processing trauma in ways that do not cause further trauma.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use this mode of therapy when patients want concrete solutions and want to focus on problem-solving and reducing dysfunction or problems that one brings into the therapy room.
