Hi! I’m Felicia Williams, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I am grateful you’re here to see me. I am a highly compassionate, empathic social work professional dedicated to exceptional mental health services including effective treatment to diverse population including children, youth, and families struggling with persistent mental illness. I enjoy working with individuals who are also or was a part of the foster care system, anxiety, depression, Bipolar, and trauma.
In our first session we will complete introductions, and begin to build rapport. I don't want our sessions to feel like counseling sessions. I want it to be fun, and interactive. While I do believe in asking hard questions, making you think, and talking about the things we don't like to talk about, I also want you to feel safe, heard, and understood. I want you to have tangible tools you can put into practice after sessions that help you work towards your goals. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling a little lighter and more hopeful than you did when you logged on to complete your session with me
As a provider, my greatest strengths include exceptional communication skills, a genuine ability to empathize with patients, a strong commitment to patient education, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the capability to build trusting relationships which allows me to effectively understand and address their individual needs.
I utilize techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy to empower clients to manage their mental health daily by addressing their current thought processes and actions rather than solely focusing on past experiences. I like to focus on the here and now .
I enjoy using attachment theory to understand my client and how people form emotional bonds with others, especially with their primary caregivers during infancy
In my practice, I utilize a trauma-informed approach, which means I actively consider the potential impact of past trauma on a client's current behaviors and emotions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment where they feel empowered to share their experiences without fear of re-traumatization; this involves actively listening to their narratives, validating their feelings, and tailoring interventions to their specific needs
