About me

Hi there, I’m Sonia. Do you feel overwhelmed by the demands of your day-to-day life? Are you struggling to keep up with your relationships, family, work, school, and health? Has it been difficult managing your emotions or experiences after the pandemic? As an LMFT, I attend to the various dimensions of the human experience- mind, body, spirit, and relationships. I specialize in working with young adults who are transitioning into new chapters in their lives. I also have extensive experience working with children, teens, adults, and older adults coping with, but not limited to: relational difficulties, trauma, family problems, anxiety, depression, hyperactivity, and navigating life transitions. I am also a bilingual therapist in Spanish and English and have extensive experience working with the Latino community. My style is nonjudgmental and collaborative and honors your individual experience. I'm sensitive, but direct, and often use humor in my work. I value trust and transparency in the working relationship between us and I always welcome your questions and feedback.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. I find it important to build a strong therapeutic relationship and therefore will honor the pace at which you feel comfortable sharing about your current challenges and any past challenges that continue to impact you today.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have had the opportunity to work closely with the Latino community and to provide therapy in our native of language, Spanish. Being a part of this community is a strength as a therapist since I have a deep connection with the culture, traditions, and values of this group. Additionally, coming from an immigrant family helps me understand the special needs and experiences that come with being an immigrant.

Sonia is the best therapist I ever had. She’s like a unicorn; I still can’t believe she’s a real person. She has helped me so much and talking to her is like talking to a best friend with amazing advice. She’s empowering, an amazing listener, hilarious, and just an overall beautiful human being. She’s saved me, and continues to save me.
