I am an LCSW born and raised from Los Angeles, California. My career has been centered around families, with an effort to lessen the pain and suffering being experienced by so many children. The pain of these youngsters spreads throughout the family, and I have devoted my career to help heal and support. I have worked extensively with individuals with trauma histories, from children to the elderly. I believe there is always hope, and change can happen with the right support around you.
In the first session, my client and I will begin to unpack their reason for attending therapy, their goals for treatment, and go over a bit of their history and current symptoms. In addition, my client and I will get a sense if we are a good fit for one another, a very key ingredient to therapeutic success. Questions we will ask are: Do our personalities align well for treatment, and does my experience lend useful to the therapeutic goals?
My great strength is creating a comfortable environment and safe space for clients to share. I approach therapy work as the wonderful ability to connect with someone new, and curiosity and learning should be happing at all times, on both sides. Therefore, the therapeutic dynamic becomes one in which truthful connection occurs and assists in the ability to share openly.
I am best positioned to work with a client who wants a therapist with a diverse background and openness to any client profile. My clients are individuals looking for treatment in a society that oppresses and harms. During these stressful and unprecedented times, my clients are looking for a therapist like me to be a consistent support in their lives.
I have been trained in CBT for more than 7 years, and it is used in practice with clients who are looking to break the cycle of certain thoughts and behaviors through structured sessions, with known results.
I have worked with children and families in every aspect of my career, particularly in a therapeutic lens in the last 7 years as a clinical social worker. I believe child/parent relationships have the ability to continue to grow and strengthen in the face of adversity, and I treasure being able to assist in a family's healing journey.
My work with families has provided me the opportunity to meet outstanding women, and true community healing and work begins with them. I proudly identify as a feminist, and believe many women suffer from negative mental health consequences due to the patriarchal world they live in. I am always here to lend support to women in my practice.
My experience with mindfulness in practice has been extensive due to the high level of trauma my patients have experienced. It is used to calm, support, and provide patients with the tools needed to self regulate.
I have worked with a large number of adults and children with high numbers of adverse experiences in their lives, and trauma-focused CBT can be an effective lens to work through those experiences.
