My name is Meredith Medin and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with 20 years of experience helping people of all ages improve their mental health and quality of life. I was lucky to know I wanted to help people from a very young age-middle school in fact! Being able to pursue this goal early on and find meaning and purpose in doing this work over all these years has been a privilege and honor.
Showing up for therapy can be hard! It takes such bravery to be open and vulnerable by reaching out for help. The goal of my first session is to get to know you and gain a clear understanding of what kind of help you are seeking. Hopefully, in this process of getting to know each other, you feel a positive connection and a sense of trust and safety for moving forward on this journey together.
I approach goal setting in a very collaborative way, guiding specifics to be the most helpful and realistic so that clients notice each small and powerful step they are taking toward their desired outcome.
I specialize in working with teens and adults of all ages in treating symptoms of depression and anxiety related to trauma, chronic conditions, or due to situational triggers.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I am trained and certified in DBT, which to me are the best kind of life skills anyone can learn. Who doesn't want to be mindful, emotionally regulated, possess interpersonal skills and be able to tolerate distress!
Trauma-Focused CBT
I am also trained and certified in TF-CBT which is an evidence based short-term treatment for kids, youth and teens with PTSD.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I am trained in Mindful Self Compassion, an excellent practice to combat shame and improve self esteem.
Eclectic
My approach is eclectic and client-centered, using multiple theoretical approaches and techniques to adapt to the unique needs of my clients.
