Hello! My name is Ash! I am a licensed marriage and family therapist from the Bay Area. I have practiced therapy for 4 years, developing a trauma-informed approach that acknowledges and engages with the impact our identities have on our mental health. Concepts and issues my work and research address include, but are not limited to, Queer relationships and dynamics, gender and sexuality, and relational attachment styles.
If I don’t know you as a person it will be hard to under the best route to take on your healing journey. The first session allows me to gage what you are looking to get out of therapy in order to develop a path unique to your experiences. It will be a conversations about expectations, goals and what makes you, you.
I pull from a variety of approaches to make therapy a tailored experience. I am passionate about the work I do around reducing symptoms in order to improve daily living. In addition, I hold each session with compassion and understanding to make space for any struggles that may occur.
I am best positioned to serve clients 12 or older seeking assistance in processing and exploring their developing gender and sexual identities. My clients know that there is a life outside their symptoms and are looking for a space to work on achieving their goals. Also clients who are interested in developing a better under Of their self and their traumas.
Showing compassion for oneself creates a space for change. I utilize compassion focused therapy to reduce feelings of shame in order to promote long lasting changes.
As a therapist who identifies as agender I understand the space needed for different types of gender exploration and the role gender plays in self-discover. I use gender-affirming care to create a container for all types of exploration needed to develop an understanding of true self.
Trauma has a significant impact on all aspects of life and therefore an individual's experience of their trauma is needed to structure the care of the individual.
This focus will be around recognizing harmful patterns of behavior caused by emotions. Emotion focused therapy will work on noticing emotional triggers and changing the behavior that occurs with the emotion.
